This is a great strainer. I definitely will not recommend using it to strain vegetables. Because it could be hard to clean or to get any residue from the very tight spaces in the bottom of this strainer. This is great to use to strain pasta and rice. I wouldn't use it with anything else in my opinion.

This strainer is a much needed surprise. I do not know how much I would enjoy this product until I began using it for every thing that I needed to rinse, vegetable, fruits, etc. Do not use it for pasta, as the mesh will be very difficult to clean.

This is a replacement for colander that broke. It will be used frequently.

Needed a strainer with fine holes for quinoa. This is exactly what I needed. Does not fit in the dishwasher but cleans easily so no trouble.

Extremely shallow definitely not 4 quarts. Double mesh is difficult to clean.

Review for fine mesh 4qt colander: The mesh is much finer than the picture shows and appears to be woven to the bowl shape, making the openings more uniform than if were formed from a flat mesh sheet. The wire seems to be heavy enough gauge to last and it is well crimped at the top edge of the sturdy top ring. The base is not attached to the mesh making it easier to clean than colanders with attached bases that trap food. The mesh won't let any rice through; the openings are about the size of sugar grains. I seldom leave 5 star reviews, but this deserves them all.
