While the newer A329 Pro has been released in 2026, the A229 Plus remains an excellent choice and is still highly competitive. Upgrade Considerations: The primary difference between the A229 Plus and the A329 Pro is the frame rate (FPS). Unless you specifically need the higher FPS capability and have the budget for it, upgrading from the A229 Plus is not necessary. This model continues to deliver exceptional performance in 2026. Storage Recommendation: I highly recommend pairing this camera with an industrial-grade SSD (sold separately) for optimal reliability and longevity. Installation Options: The camera supports multiple installation methods, including hardwiring and ACC installation, both of which work seamlessly. If you choose the hardwire option, I strongly recommend purchasing the official VIOFO hardwire kit, as it includes a voltage sensor that protects your vehicle's battery by automatically shutting off the camera when it reaches your preset voltage threshold. Installation Experience: In my 2019 Toyota Corolla, the camera mounts discreetly and the installation process was straightforward. App and Connectivity: The loop recording feature is convenient, minimizing the need to frequently remove the SSD. However, the app connectivity has limitations. Since it uses Wi-Fi, you must disable CarPlay in your settings to connect to the camera. Additionally, video quality is compressed when viewed through the app, so I only recommend using it for adjusting camera settings if you find the on-camera controls difficult to navigate. Final Verdict: This is an exceptional product that delivers outstanding value. I plan to continue using VIOFO dashcams and will upgrade only when a significantly improved model is released.

I replaced my older dash cam with this one because I read good things about the STARVIS 2 Sensors. My older dash cam didn't perform so well in low light and so far I am impressed by the video quality of the Viofo A229. I also liked the fact that this kit came with the CPL filter for the front camera. I wish there was an option to get a shorter interior camera cable. The cable is just too long especially since I am mounting the interior camera just about 7 inches away from the main unit. Luckily I had enough room in the housing behind my rear view mirror to store the extra cable slack. I opted for the hard wire kit to enable parking modes. The kit was straight forward and easy to install as my car had plenty of extra unused fuse slots that provided the constant power and accessory power that was needed. The only issue I had was that the power cable has a ferrite core that is located a few inches away from where it connects to the dash cam. The thickness of the ferrite core makes the cable hard to tuck into the car's headliner without making it bulge. It's a minor issue for me but hopefully your car has more room in the headliner to tuck this cable in. I did have a problem with the GPS module not not picking up any satellite signals. I submitted a ticket on Viofo's Support Center and got a response in a short time. I verified GPS settings were turned on and even tested the unit outside of the car to make sure the windshield wasn't blocking satellite signals. Everything was set up correctly so Viofo shipped me a new GPS module to test. I received the new GPS module within 2 weeks and installed it right away. The replacement GPS module worked and the dash cam immediately picked up satellite signals. Everything is now working! I would like to thank Annie S. from the Viofo Support team for her prompt responses and for the hassle free process of getting a replacement GPS module. Overall, I love this dash cam and I'm impressed by the quality of the STARVIS 2 sensors. Viofo support was also great! I am hoping this dash cam will last a long time without any issues.

اشتريت منها طقمين الي تجي ب٣ كامرات ومركبها على سيارتين. جدا ممتازة. دقة عالية فوق ما تتصور وتتحمل حرارة الشمس. واجهتني مشكلة في التركيب وكلمت الدعم تبعهم من خلال موقعهم ردو علي برد مفصل خلال اقل من ١٢ ساعة. للتنبيه عشان ما تحصل لك نفس المشكلة الي واجهتني. الكامرة الي فيها ٤ ليدات حول العدسة هي الداخلية والي بدون ليدات هي الخلفية. والأمامية واضحة هي الي فيها شاشة. راح تعجبك كثير وما راح تندم عليها ابدا وتستاهل كل ريال تدفعه فيها.

The app is very easy to use and voice recognition features are excellent The hard wiring is also easy to follow with the guise. You can also watch videos for tutorials or go to a shop to have it installed. For my next vehicle, I will definitely return to Viofo for my dash cam needs
