How I hooked it up.
First, some negatives as others have mentioned...the water pump is worthless. It has a 110v cord on a 220v pump. Not the end of the world but annoying. This is just pure laziness. 1) They should have enough common sense to not advertise it with a water pump to US customers if they know 100% you are not getting a water pump. 2) No wrenches as others have stated. 3) Next to zero accurate documentation. There is a comment to not do the wiring unless you are a electrician. That is silly. Here is what I did. 1) I bought this power cord. " 20FT NEMA 6-15P/6-15R Power Extension Cord for 220/240V Air-Condition,...." ... here on amazon.. .2) I cut the end not going to the wall off 3) I bought the blue colored ring connectors from HDepot 4) I hooked black and white to any two of the power connectors (can't recall the letters UVW? easy to look up). I hooked the ground to the only ground on the VFD. 5) I purchased the wiring that went between the VFD and Spindle ready to go...premade from corvetteguy50 - easy to find for $230 shipping. In his video he will tell you how to hook up the wires...super simple. I put both grounds on the only ground screen on the VFD. Green from the 220 cord you purchased here on Amazon from above and one from green ring connector coming off the ground from wire purchased from corvetteguy. 6) I cut the original orange water pump line in half. 7) I put the original water pump screen in adapter onto the new water pump (its the right size..you will need this) 8) Connected the water lines (one going to Spindle from new pump and one going from spindle into water bucket). 9) I tested to make sure the water pump was flowing with no leaks. 10) I programmed the VFD as shown on most videos. I only programmed 2 codes I do believe - PD005 and PD004. 11). I turned it on. 12) Tested a cut...completely tore up the wood. 13) Spend 7 hours in the garage trying to figure out what was going on...went to bed unresolved. 14) Woke up and realized the spindle was sent programmed to spin the wrong direction. 15) Hit the REV button on the VFD...spindle spins correctly now and everything works great. I hope this helped someone. Figuring out how to do this...took much more time than actually doing anything. Was way easier than I thought it would be and I'm no electrician. Be careful and the above is not electrical advise...just telling you how I got this mystery thing to run. And I bought this water pump from Amazon ..."VIVOSUN 800GPH Submersible Pump(3000L/H, 24W)" - Keep the hose to pump adapter from the old pump...you will need it. And that's it. I was out the door for about $650 or so but way better than the $3500 my CNC company wanted for a 1.7KW HSD Spindle and VFD. Besides, if one part goes bad on this unit....you now know how to fix it.

Very good spindle
I have been using this spindle for my CNC router for 6 months now and it has performed flawlessly. I even checked the spindle runout and detected none. I was able to set it up to work with my Linux CNC program so that I never need to touch the VFD controller. On, off and speed are controlled by the G code. I do have some minor complaints and some suggestions: If you live in the US and know your way around 220 single phase you will be fine. If not, you will absolutely need a qualified electrician. Don't even think about it if you do not know what you are doing. I also ordered a cheap set of collets from another source. YaeKo I think. If you care about accuracy dont do that. I pay about $20 each now for Amana ER20 collets and they are worth the money. Complaints: No spindle wrenches. Not enough tubing. Barely adequate documentation. Suggestions: Offer a 110v pump for US customers. It's partly for this reason that you will need to have an electrician. I happen to be one so it was easy for me. I cut the plug off the pump cord and wired it to the same switch I use for the VFD. Have an option for more water tubing and a flow indicator. Also make a recommendation on the water supply. I use a large plastic storage bin under my CNC table. I mixed in a fair amount of automotive antifreeze to prevent corrosion and to lube the pump. I don't know if I did the right thing because there are no recommendations in the doc's. Finally, provide better documentation. Especially for those wanting to control the spindle from their CNC software. Many users are DIYers that use Linux or Mach 3. It would be great to have specific instructions for these 2 programs. It baffles me why Chinese companies that make very good products like this one, offer such poorly translated documentation. For many American and European DIY'rs, this is a major deterrent. Seeing "excellent documentation" in the comments would easily return your investment on having it done better.

Overall good for an inexpensive spindle
Everything works great. Changing the different parameters was easy enough as most of them are correct from the factory. I setup communication through RS485 and haven't had any issues. The included water pump feels extremely cheap and doesn't include enough tubing or the correct fittings to attach the tubing to the pump. Would have been better if the kit just skipped the water pump altogether honestly.

They need a better connector. Where it only goes on one way.
It’s not amazon fault. Amazon is great people to work with. They did helped out. But they didn’t have to. It’s the manufacturer where the product is made that screwed me over. Anyway. Be carefull with the connector that comes with it. Yes it’s suppose to be keyed to only plug in a certain way or rotation. Well the one I got was able to plug in at to different rotation. Which cause it to short out everything. Smoked up the VFD unit, my brand new laptop, and possibly my controller for the cnc router table. Since the usb plugged was plugged into my laptop coming from the controller. I will hopefully find out if my controller got fried when I get my new VFD, water cool spindle kit that I have ordered to replace this one. So be carefull when you plug the connector into the spindle. And they fully admit after me showing them a video of it. That indeed the connector is faulty. But yet they won’t help cover for my new laptop and openbuild blackbox controller that got fried cause of this faulty connector. They only wanted to offer about $ 150 to cover for my lost ( laptop and blackbox ). The combined cost of both of these items were little over $1300. Really they only want to offer $150. I would not buy from them again. Hope each and everyone of you don’t buy from them as well.

Excellent Spindle/VFD combo
This is a great spindle and VFD. I knew nothing about either before purchasing this kit. I got it for my Shapeoko 3 XXL. The long and the short is that it works beautifully. Super quiet, very powerful. It’s the quietest tool in my woodshop. The manual is comprehensive. There are lots of videos online to help with setup. I ditched the pump that came with it and am using a 2.3gpm solar pump that I bought here on amazon for 20 bucks. I have the coooong on a closed system with 50/50 antifreeze/water. I’ve ran the spindle for 2 hours straight and the temperate did not increase. The spindle and coolant were room temperature. That is very promising. This is a great deal and I can not do stuff with my CNC that the expensive machines can do without the hefty price tag.

NOT a 4 pin... read on
Shipping was almost instant! Next day in my case. One of the coolant hose nipples was bent over from sliding around in the box with the mount. I straightened well enough to not leak. My biggest complaint is the size of the connector. Its almost miniature compared to the 4 pin that was on my cnc. VERY difficult to soldier, heat shink, and strain relief in a pin connector the diameter of a dime and maybe an inch tall. My 4 wire shielded cable would NOT fit through the end! and this is 220 volt 3 phase motor were talking about. Then the 4th pin! They still are not connecting it inside the motor. NO GROUND Is DANGEROUS on a water cooled electric motor.... Google it!! Its a simple solve but the net is filled with this complaint from years and years ago, so why? Motor itself after repairs is quiet, runs true. The VFD sets up pretty easily with the video and seems quiet. Im not expecting a HAAS at this price but a few small changes could have made this a 5 star review. We'll see how it holds up. Well, it lasted for about 5 or 6 hours of cutting. I only use my cnc a few times a month and one day I was running a few parts and heard what sounded like the motor spooling up but looked at the bit and it wasn't spinning. Small puff of smoke from a hole at the spindle side. It will run if you hand spin it to get it moving. Save your money.

A great spindle for the money
The bad first. The water pump didn't work but it's not why would buy this. Just plan on buying a good quality pond pump. Otherwise it has been great. I've done several 24 hour plus cuts without a hiccup. The VFD is tied into my CNC controller so the G code commands it to start, sets the speed, and to turn off once it's done. After 24 hours the spindle is warm to the touch but not hot. It has lots of power. I use a CMT 2 3/8" surfacing bit set to 8000 rpm. It handles it without an issue. I've even used a 3" half round bit. ust add ferrite beads on the power cable for the spindle.

Pump voltage is 240! with 120v plug!
Overall nice product. A few items to note... The pump is 240V with a 120V plug on it! So plan of changing the plug and don't be bummed when it will not work at all when you plug it into a 120v outlet. The VFD has no way to legally be wired in the US unless you have it entirely in an enclosure. This is do to how the cabling is routed in and out. Not expecting this to be a problem for most but keep it in mind if you are planning on using this in a setting other than your basement (school, group area) it is a no go per NEC requirements. You should also use shielded cable to the spindle from the VFD. (Google it) The water line that is included is going to be too short for 4x4' tables. But suprisangaly the pump will push water through a longer hose. I would get it again. After all a good quality VFD costs more than this entire setup!
