An excellent buy
I have had a number of modern cork screws with varying degrees of success. I tried this one because it had good reviews and I like it. One secret is to make certain the lever goes up slightly the other side of centre as there is a slightly tight spot at the top. By going right over centre, it removes the cork successfully and with much less effort than the Rabbit type units. The foil cutter works well too.

Looks good. Works smooth!
... and it looks a robust build. Should last a lot longer than the similar prodcut I had before.

It's ok
For £40 you expect a lot form a cork screw and I think this just stops short. My old classic corksrew was on its last legs so I had high hopes. The engineering does work well most of the time (nice lever action) but a few times we've had to give a bit of extra assistance. It feels quite robust, but it does take up a lot of space.

Brilliant design
Not only is this smart, but the promise is true. It really does remove a cork in two easy motions, effortlessly. The handle is really comfortable to hold and use. The foil cutter is also excellent, much better than a knife and fingernails. I would think this an appropriate gift for a wine lover.

I've tried to give this item the benefit of the doubt but have come to the conclusion it's just not up to the job, especially for the price paid. The actual corkscrew doesn't go deep enough into the cork so that it ends up breaking the cork. This has happened at least half-a-dozen times. Also, the plastic grip feels flimsy and far from sturdy enough. I'm now back to relying on an old-fashioned manual corkscrew. It may not be quite as hi-tech but at least it's reliable

Removes corks without strain.
Brilliant! If you have manual dexterity problems, removing corks can pose a major problem. The screwing action puts major stresses on the wrist joints, and the pulling action takes lower arm strength. This great gadget gets round this and removes corks quickly and easily with the minimum of strain. I like the cutter for cutting through the metal foil....an action that often drives me to distraction.

I've had a number of these types of corkscrews and they eventually fail. The failure point is usually the gear mechanism that is a cheaper plastic and eventually wears and makes the handle hard to operate to the point it flat out breaks. I've had this opener for months and it is working perfectly. It uses a slide rail instead of the gear or tooth system most cheaper openers employ. It is much easier to pull the cork out of the bottle and remove the cork automatically from the opener. It is not cheap but is likely to last much much longer than the cheaper plastic openers so money well spent.
