Great Quality & Quiet
This filter works great. Not TOO strong that it upsets the tank setup or the fish, but strong enough that it keeps the tank VERY clean. It works GREAT. I need extra filter strength in my tanks usually because I like to do a lot of planted aquariums with real plants, but this filter has kept the tank crystal clear. AND it is quiet!

READ FIRST! It leaks due to design/manufacturing defect.
I bought a JUB-01 in Jan 2024. Installed it in a 70 gal turtle/fish aquarium on my light timer so it only ran about 10 hours per day. It worked great when it was first installed and cleared up the cloudy water in a couple of days. I recently noticed the water getting cloudy again and saw the light was not blue at the bottom. I pulled the filter and when I opened it up the inner quartz tube around the bulb was totally filled with water. The bulb was corroded and shorted out. I am a Plastics Engineer and started looking at the O ring interface to see if silicone grease or a thicker O ring might help fix the issue. However I noticed that it looks like the factory applied a layer of "glue" inside the molded cylinder where the O ring on the quartz tube is supposed to compress and seal. It might have worked, but was poorly executed. It was not smooth and has ripples in the glue surface so the O ring cannot compress evenly and seal. This was not normal for this type of design and after 20 years of working with Chinese suppliers sourcing plastic parts for major US companies, I am guessing the molding diameter was out of specification. To save a few bucks, rather than scrapping the parts, they tried to rework them using a "glue" wiped inside the plastic cylider to decrease the inner diameter by 0.5mm or so and better compress the O ring. However there are large ripples in the hard glue surface so it is not even and there is no way for it to make a good/even compression of the O ring around the entire circumference. Maybe it was smooth enough to work sometimes, but If you get one of these and see a "glue" build up where the quartz tube/ O ring is supposed to seal I do not recommend using it. Just send it back. Looking at reviews from late 2023 to early 2024 a lot of units reported leaking. I'll bet they all have this "glue" rework inside of them. They need to fix the molding process or modify the molding tool so it has the correct dimensions for the O ring to seal without adding crap to the inner sealing surface as a band-aid.

I LOVE THIS UV FILTER! TOP Quality, GREAT Value, This Company CARES.
Shipped quickly, arrived quickly. I've had an aquarium for 40 years, and i've lots of experience with high quality tools and electronics. I knew when i unpacked it that this was a quality piece of equipment. You can tell by both the heft of it, the solidness and the way everything fits together. Well designed, well made. I was pleasantly surprised at finding not just the one sponge filter that's installed, but also three extra sponge filters (one is wrapped around the bulb for shipping to prevent "shock damage"; don't throw it away after your remove it). I was simply stunned to find an extra bulb in box with the extra sponges, plus the one that's installed in the unit. I couldn't find the little piece of anti-shock rubber around the bulb which the instructions mentioned. I disassembled as per the easy instructions (it was not wet; no water in it), reassembled with the air bubble hose attached, placed it halfway up the back wall of my 55 gal (it stuck securely with the 4 suction cups), plugged it in and it worked immediately. There is not sound except a tiny hiss of the fine bubbles it makes in its STRONG current. With the aquarium light off, the uv filter is designed so that i can see a small spot of blue uv light so i know that the uv-c bulb is working. I LOVE THIS UV FILTER! Update 1 1/2 Years later STILL GOING STRONG! Crystal clear water, no more 'pea soup' and massive aglae growth! it came with two bulbs, they last a LONG time (i think i might have replaced it once unnecessarily before it died). Don't hesitate to buy this!

Has 2 water jets, powerful, lacking in structions, short air hose and short power cords.
I'm using this as a filter/pump for a small 375 gallon float pool. I've never used one of these before, so I was hoping there would be complete instructions, but the paper that came with it was quite lacking in any useful information. More warnings than anything. So you have to figure it out on your own. Somewhat easy to do, however, I still had questions... At first there were no air bubbles, and the filter end kept floating to the top of the water causing it to suck air through the filter... I had to take the plate off the back of it that holds the suction cups, because the edges were sharp and I didn't want it to tear the bottom of my pool, so the one suction cup did not stick and I was relying on the weight of it to stay down at the bottom... I finally figured out I had to physically hold it down on the bottom until all of the air bubbles came out of it, then plug it in, facing it with one jet facing up and one facing forward into the pool in order to make it stay at the bottom. Now I'm getting the air bubbles. It really moves the water well... So it's nice and powerful. I've been using it for 2 weeks now, pretty much non-stop, so it's doing it's job well, and there isn't any water getting into the UV lamp. The air hose is entirely too short for my use, so I had to buy a longer one. There is no hose supplied to use it as a pump to pump water out of the pool, although the description says it can be used to pump water out, So I'm going to have to rig something up to use it for that application. **In short, it's powerful, aerates well, easy to clean, but lacking in instructions. IMO it should have a longer air hose and a hose for extraction pumping. It would also be nice if the power cords were a little longer.

Clear difference after switching
You know I didn’t really think I’d see a difference in my tank but this is an amazing product. The suction cups work perfectly and I didn’t have a problem with it like I did with other products. After getting lids and this submersible filter I’ve noticed my room is so silent now. Does not effect tank temperature and clearly cleans well enough to see a difference even with my 75 gallon tank.

Leaked before a month had passed
This worked great and cleared the algae in my pond in a couple of days. It is a pain to get it to stay submerged though. Since the pond has a liner, the suction cups don't grip the uneven sides. Sitting on my counter it grips VERY well! The reason it was on my counter is because the water started to turn green quickly. The pump was working and I had to clean the filter every few days. Last night I didn't see the blue light on, so I brought everything inside to take a look. There was water in the quartz sleeve. I pulled everything apart and it looked like the bulb was burnt also and it was very dirty. Not something I expected being inside the product. A check of the reviews and I see this happens quite frequently. Such a shame as the product worked great in the beginning. I haven't even had it for a month. Not sure if I want to take a chance on another unit or go with another product. I definitely need some kind of filter in my plant pond. UPDATE: I did contact the manufacturer and they are sending a replacement at no charge. They did recommend using some silicone oil around the area of the O ring to help seal the quartz tube and prevent leakage. I will give that a try when the product arrives. Seller was very responsive and helpful.
