This set of chainmail voiders is constructed from dome-riveted flat rings which alternate with solid flat rings - the individual mild steel rings are 9 mm in diameter and 17 gauge in thickness.Voiders are mail panels intended to be sewn and fitted onto the sides and underarm of a padded arming doublet or gambeson to add additional armor to these areas. This is ideal for a gambeson worn beneath plate armor, where the added mail protection serves to provide armor behind the gaps in plate armor.
