Karen Carpenter's liquid golden-honeyed vocals, all American, but always crystal clear, backed by brother Richard's lush arrangements and orchestrations, graced the world's charts for most of the 70s, serving as a melodic counterpoint to some of the excesses of the rock industry's output at the time. It was easy listening par excellence - and there has never been anything quite like them since. This DVD features their biggest hits filmed live in Japan in 1972, including 'Superstar,' 'Rainy Days And Mondays,' 'Top Of The World,' 'Close To You,' Sing,' 'We've Only Just Begun,' 'For All We Know' and more. A must for any true Carpenters fan!

LOSE THE JAPANESE SUBTITLES
Well it's the Carpenters and of course they're great. The DVD however has Japanese subtitles (which can't be turned off) for every lyric of every song. And that's annoying. Five stars for Richard and Karen, zero stars for the DVD.

Awesome 1974 Carpenters Japanese Concert.
Was skeptical buying this DVD because in the past if Richard Carpenter isn't involved with the release of a Carpenters' related product, it's mostly not up to par. I believe this may not contain the whole concert as I've seen this released in other variations. The concert starts abruptly, with Karen's footage starting like it was on pause & it ends abruptly as well, but the sound & the footage is good. If you're a diehard Carpenters' fan, I saw get this but if you're a casual fan, skip this DVD until something better comes along, I have to say I enjoyed it really well...

because I had to enter something to get to this review area!! Terrible, awful, abominable (where's my thesaurus, its even worse than that). Video quality, or lack of it, makes it barely watchable. The audio has no signs of mixing and it sounds as if it was lifted from the PA feed.AT BEST ~ IT LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE A POOR PIRACY JOB.If, like me, you love the Carpenters don't buy this, it'll just make you feel bad.

The Best of the Carpenters - Live in Japan
Exactly the same DVD as the Carpenters in Performance. Only difference is the DVD packaging. Made in Argentina and presented in Dolby 2 0. Quality of sound and picture is good. For those who purchased the Carpenters in Performance it looks like the same concert .Karen and Richard are great as ever. Thanks for the memories.

The Best of Carpenters has quickly become one of my favorite DVDs. The music is close to holding onto a butterfly while the sun is shining brightly.

Just a few notes and you recognize Karen's beautiful voice.This is a great addition to my Carpenter collection. I hope it is in your collection also.

音飛びと絵が瞬間停止する箇所が、計４か所あった。画像も音もＤＶＤにする価値がないほどだ。元々の情報の品質が良くないのならわざわざＤＶＤにしなきゃいいのに…商道徳を疑う。
