From Birth to Backing: The Complete Handling of the Young Horse

Very disappointed with this book. Just a re hash of Monty Roberts. Can only really follow if you have a large circular, enclosed menage. Skims over things like how to put a bridle on for the first time or anything really useful. Glad I only bought second hand, would have been really miffed if I had paid full price. Don't bother unless you just want to look at the pictures.

A little bit dated now, he's got a new book out which is great. Either way still a good book and a must have.

I bought this book to give me a little extra guidance with the young horse (a 9 month old) Its a good book for the slightly older horse needing starting, but not great if you dont have a round pen as 'Max' does most of his starter work in the pen. There wasnt a great deal on the very young 'baby' horse ie, 6-18months and what you should be working on or not as the case maybe, but again fine if you have a 3 or 4 year old or an older horse with issues where you need to re-start work from the beginning.

My favorite present day trainer. If only more trainers encouraged horse owners to train their own horses from birth to backing.

Useful information when needed, but once you've read it, it sit's on the bottom shelf for a long time... So maybe look of a second hand copy, to keep the price down.

Very interesting reading

A great book, foaly hasn't arrived yet but this book looks as thouugh it will be used loads once he/she arrives!
