Almost impossible to get aligned correctly
Good concept but virtually impossible to get aligned so you can use it. And you will need to continuously need to re-align it - or put another way, you'll never get it to work. Don't waste your money

If you own a chainsaw, you need this
This Chainsaw Sharpener Tool had me a bit skeptical, but had to try it out.Normal chainsaw sharpening takes me about an hour - this took about 20 minutes.Chainsaw cuts through wood like butter.HIGHLY recommend!Make sure you read the instructions if you've never used one of these, and don't ever turn this counter-clockwise (I read the instructions, so I knew not to do this).

This will not sharpen small chains
This comes with one size carbide cutter for a large chain whereas the information says it will sharpen all different sizes of chains which is not so

It works, but with a few changes could be much better
I’ve only used this to sharpen my chain a few times, but it already seems to leave a lot to be desired. For starters, the handle already came apart where the knob is pressed into the arm.Sharpening my particular chain is somewhat tedious because the pawl is slightly too long and so engages with every link in the chain. That would be OK except that I always overshoot the link that is to be sharpened and then have to pull the chain back, lifting the pawl out of the way one link at a time. The pawl is made from aluminum that was gouged during the first use by the back side of the chain’s teeth (pictured). This tool can produce acceptable results, but before attaching it to your chainsaw’s bar, you have to be sure that the tool rocks while being supported on the bar by the burr in a tooth’s gullet. The first of these tools that I received had one bushing too high (pictured with a black line drawn between the inside corners of the tool's body so you can see how one is higher). The higher bushing resulting in the burr not being able to get down into the gullets on one side of the chain. As a result, it wouldn’t sharpen that side very well and I had to return & replace the tool. It has an adjustable tab to keep the chain upright when the bur is in one bushing, but then the chain flops to the side when the other bushing location is used.Another thing that I don’t like about this is that the instructions have you turn the handle (rotating the burr) while using your other hand to rotate the knob that controls the pawl’s position in order to advance it and thus push the chain’s tooth into the bur until chips are seen. But that is rather imprecise – you might remove far more on one side than the other. I know that in order to make a straight cut you need to measure teeth on both sides and then adjust how much is removed to make all your teeth the same length, but it seems to involve a fair bit of trial and error with this technique. I’ve had some luck by “touching off” the burr by wiggling a piece of paper between it and the tooth as I advance the knob until I feel resistance in the paper. Then I used the fact that the knob uses a 26 TPI bolt to know how much further to rotate the knob to remove a desired amount (at 26 TPI, rotating it 360° advances the pawl 0.0385”). Unfortunately, the knob seems to loosen as you use the tool. By the time I was halfway around the chain, the burr no longer removed chips. Touching back off on the first tooth and working my way back around the chain a second time resulted in more consistent tooth lengths.Lastly, this tool included gloves that don’t fit me instead of a way to file the rakes down to the proper height. So I had to buy a separate tool for that.

Nicer than a file
I like this for the ease of use. Much nicer and faster than a file.

Slight Learning Curve
Product arrived as per schedule. Correctly setting/attaching jig onto saw took a little finicky adjusting but, once set it functioned as discribed. Wish I could purchase spare file bits.

Not recommend
It sharpens the teeth on different degrees causing the saw to cut on an angle. Contacted customer service and they say I’m not setting it up right but won’t tell me I’m going wrong. I’ve been cutting wood for years without it so on the shelf it goes.
