ONE THING TO WATCH OUT FOR BUT ON THE WHOLE A GREAT BOOT
This is my third pair of Muck Boots. The First pair were the Derwent model and lasted a few years then got a leak through the sole. The second pair was also a Derwent Model and the sole on one of the boots totally came away. I'm a casual user, not a farmer or tradesperson. I don/t wear them every day but I'd say worked them hard 10 days in a month for 6 months of the year working the land and walking the dog. So here's my review broken down into sections of Comfort, Grip, Warmth, Waterproofing and LongevityCOMFORTSo, I've just received this pair of Edgewater II's. First impressions are very good. The first thing I noticed is that where both of my Derwent boots had a steel reinforced ankle area (or something like steel) which used to hurt until it was worn in (it was too high and rubbed) the material around the heel and Achilles tendon is flexible ... time will tell if this is good or bad.Overall the insole comfort is exceptional, soles are flexible and I wasn't feeling the prods of rocks or stones through the sole. They are also light, very light in fact, and I felt Iike I could power walk in them. The upper part of the boot is not too loose and not too tight so shouldn't have any problem getting trousers in there. Size wise they fit better than expected with my previous experience with MBCoGRIPI took them for a walk over the following surfaces and found the grip to be:Wet Cobbles on the flat - quite slippy laterally (side to side)Wet Cobbles covered in leaves on severe incline and Decline - to be honest they held up okWet tarmac - quite slippy laterallyWet Moss over Tarmac - OKGrass - ExcellentFlat Mud - OKMud on a severe camber - OK, some slipping laterally but actually better than expectedOne thing I have noticed is the grip is ok in the direction of travel but its the side to side grip that feels loose. Also the sole cleans itself well! really well, got them muddy and a few minutes walking on grass and they were all cleaned up. Mud didnt seem to clog up which is a total bonus! All that said these are a pair of wellies, not hiking boots or running shoes. You want a sole that performs on the surface it will be used for the purpose most people will need it these will most likely do. These are marketed by MBCo as "Edgewater II are the multi-purpose boots that will look after your feet in the garden, on your muddy dog walk or as you head into town on a rainy day". I'd say they are better on soft terrain than hard.WARMTHOk, 5mm Neoprene, insulated sole = a warm boot. Exceptional for Use aroundI'm going to guess with what these are made of eg rubber and neoprene. These are insulated waterproof boots. Not a pair of crocs. They're not for a summers day and I don't care for it when manufacturers use the word breathable on boots, that lets face it, really wont end up being. I'll be working them hard over the next two late autumn days and I can guarantee I'll have sweaty feet by the end of it.But when you need a warm boot to stop freezing toes - these tick the boxWATERPROOFINGExcellent. I jumped in a stream 1" from the top of the boot with no leakage, right foot only though I wouldnt have been able to get out if I'd stuck the other one in!LONGEVITYWell this is the big question isnt it. I'd say I got 2 years each out of my last two pairs. According to my estimate earlier on I used my Derwent boots approx 120 times each. TBH that sounds pretty bad and if I got this out of these £75 boots that would be 62p per wear. Hmmm. So, you pay more for a boot that is comfy and warm and performs well but how long will it last for before something goes wrong. One of the reasons I chose this pair is because the sole design is TOTALLY different to the Derwent boot, I'm hoping that that wrap around lip of the sole clings on tight with lots of walking and work in the garden.OVERALLA great boot with thermal retention and waterproofing but sadly that little bit of slip in the grip drops it from 5 stars 4 but then pops it back up to 5 stars because of how well the sole cleaned itself meaning - I love it.

Muck Boots
We always buy Muck Boots - they are a bit more expensive but last well. They are comfortable and, as dog walkers, we need them to be waterproof and warm. They fulfil this criteria and also look good.

High quality wellies for all conditions.
Got these for my partner for Christmas and he loves them. They are very comfy, don't pick up too much mud even when walking in very muddy conditions, and provide good grip on pavements (including ice), mud, grass (wet or dry) and at the beach. Our dog grabs my boyfriend's leg when returning his ball and has made small holes in the neoprene (as you would expect!) but this has not reduced the waterproofing of the boots at all. They also fit snugly around his calf (but also stretch for a bigger calf easily) so rain water doesn't run inside the boot as it does with some other brands. They are warm enough to wear without thick socks even in freezing conditions but are also not too warm in hotter weather. These have now been used at least once a day for nearly 6 months and other than the damage caused by the dog they still look like new. Would highly recommend.

Decent value and comfortable
These were a comfortable fit right out of the box with everyday socks. I take UK shoe size 10, and bought these in UK size 9, knowing that boot manufacturers assume I'll be wearing one or two pairs of thick socks. They've proven to be pretty warm too, especially for the summer. My only minor niggle is that the grip isn't that good on smooth wet concrete.

Waterproof and comfy
This is a repeat purchase. These boots are totally reliable in the wet and super comfy. They are hard wearing, I walk many miles a day with our dogs and these are great boots.

Terrible. Worst pair of wellies I’ve owned in 35 years
I’ve worn wellies from all sorts of brands over the last 35 years for both farming and general dog walking purposes and these are by far the worst pair of wellies I’ve ever had. I do so wanted them to be brilliant like my last pair of Muck Boots which lasted more than 8 years. These have no grip on anything other than dry or damp firm ground. Once you get mud on the floor there is literally no traction. My wife in her Le Chameau boots marches away from me if I’ve got these on and it’s muddy. I’d have more grip just putting a plastic bag over your socks.Which is actually what I had to do after 12 months when these started leaking. I’ve inspected the soles and there’s no obvious holes. There’s a split where two of the panels are coming apart which I’ve glued with rubber cement.Seriously, if you’re looking at these, save yourself loads of money and get a pair of £10 Dunlop wellies. They will grip better and you won’t begrudge putting them in the bin when they start leaking because you’ll be able to buy another pair and still be many quids in.

A Really Great Boot
My first Muck Boots were Muck Masters, which are still going strong years later - I had been sceptical of the neoprene uppers and these only had a small upper section. I'd also had some crappy Hunters, that cracked within the year, so was hesitant when it came to buying expensive wellies. Now knowing how good Muck Boots were, I decide to see if there were other versions more suited to walking; the Muck Masters are quite substantial (but amazingly comfortable for walking still)! The Edgewater II caught my eye with more neoprene and what looked like a slimmed down profile - they are lighter, comfortable, seem as durable and can be rolled down more than the Muck Masters, which is great in warmer weather. The only down side is the tread isn't as deep, so grip in mud is lacking in comparison (the smaller thread may mean they also wear out quicker). However, these are the ones I pick when going walking, so on balance a great boot!

Muck Boots excellent for dog walking
My previous pair of "Tweed" Muck Boots were used for dog walking. The sole grips had started to wear smooth after several years of daily use during the winter. They were ideal, but they no longer make that type, so I wanted a replacement that was similar in style, which appeared to be "Edgeware II". The new ones are excellent - comfortable, lightweight, and somehow the fit is even better than my previous pair. Very pleased after several weeks of use.

Excellent quality boots. Plenty wide for my penguin feet, super quality construction
These fit a bit loose, just like I hoped they would. I have wide forefeet combined with narrow heels, a very hard combination to fit, but these fill the bill. My wife and I have each worn low-cut Neoprene lined "barn shoes" from Muck for years, and love them. My last pair of calf length barn boots (LaCrosse) developed age cracks and leaks in the flexing areas near the ankles after many years of good service, so I can recommend LaCrosse for longevity and wear, but they were also all-rubber, so were very hot and sweaty to wear in warmer weather. I like the mostly Neoprene construction of the Muck line, much easier on my feet and simply feel better to me. If you can catch Mucks on sale, grab them, otherwise they can be pretty pricey compared to most brands. However, this is one of those 'you get what you pay for' things, so I feel they are worth their price.

Very nice boots - But up size
These are well constructed boots but they fit small. Size 15 fit like a 14. Go up one size for good fit in my experience.

Great comfortable waterproof boot
Muck boots are great. Keep your feet dry and they are comfortable. Best boot for playing or working in snow or mud. I wear them for duck/deer hunting and at work.Heard some people have a hard time putting them on and taking them off - here's a tip - you can roll down the boot. The top will roll down or fold down toward the bottom of the boot and it's easier to get them off.
