Seeing Ourselves: Women's Self-Portraits

I have to say, this is one of the best art books I have read. I'm currently doing an art course, and although this wasn't on our official reading list, I'm so glad I bought it. It was the Maria Lassnig picture on the front that caught my eye! Extremely well written, edited and researched. Frances Borzello’s take on women's self portraits is terrific, engaging and inspiring - I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone with the slightest interest in art. I'm looking forward to reading more Frances Borzello.

When writing my final essay for my Diploma I found this book incredibly inspiring. I recommend this book for any aspiring young female artist, a prefect present for a young lady hoping to excel in a heavily dominated world of male artists.

Fascinating and well written. It will please people who like looking at pictures who are also interested in attitudes to women - social history plus art without pomposity.
