Reliable product, it is the second one purchased. The first charger is already operating for more than 2 years with LFP battery. Highly recommended.

This is the best small MPPT charge controller! Mine replaced an expensive and clunky Morningstar MPPT charge controller that had a high parasitic load and wires sticking out in all directions. With it's simple solar input/battery output wiring and LCD display, this controller has greatly cleaned up my remote gazebo security camera/LED party light/cooler configuration. Works great with it's native lithium battery charge profile (my battery is just a 40 amp/hour LiFeP04). There is no load control, so you'll have to rely on your lithium battery's protections "when the sun don't shine", but it's been working great all summer long. With less sunlight this coming winter, I'll just turn off the (unneeded anyway) cooler and it will still run my camera and periodic LED party lights.

I was disappointed that the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) function on these Bateria regulators does not include the ability to charge when panel voltage is below battery voltage. A regulator I purchased 7 years ago had MPPT that could charge even with panel voltage below battery voltage, so I replaced the simpler "PWM regulator" that came with the 175W solar panel I installed on my boat. This MPPT unit was 4x the price of the Bateria units, but is still working like a charm. The ability to charge with panel voltage below battery voltage makes a noticeable increase in the average energy delivered by a solar panel - especially in chronically poor sunlight situations. When sunlight conditions are poor (meaning EVERY morning and late afternoon when the sun gets low, and ALL DAY on cloudy days) the panel output voltage is lower than battery voltage, and simple PWM regulators (and even MPPT regulators such as this Bateria) are unable to provide ANY charging. (In fact, all regulators slowly discharge the battery under those conditions.) When needing to keep batteries of seldom-used vehicles charged in Northern latitude Winters, enough sunlight to charge may not occur for weeks at a time - and even then at most for 6 hours/day. I purchased 4 Bateria 10A units and tested them in my electronics lab. All 4 responded when voltage was applied, but none would charge unless input (panel) voltage was above output (battery) voltage. I then purchased 4 more of the MPPT units installed on my boat and put them in the same test setup. Output to charge the 12 battery was produced even with input (panel) voltage as low as 5 volts. I plan to use one of these MPPT units to help maintain a Recreational Vehicle (RV) battery during the Winter when short drives are not sufficient to restore a healthy battery charge. All will be used - one per panel - on higher-power panels (all slightly different) during my travels so that each panel will simultaneously produce its maximum power into a common battery regardless of differences in shading (common in campgrounds) or sun angle.
