Design House Keyed Entry Door Deadbolt with One Keyed Side and Twist-Knob Interior, 2-Way Adjustable Latch, Fits Standard Doors, Oil Rubbed Bronze – Design House, 750869

I purchased three of these to add additional security to three french doors that open out onto my pool deck. The doors were already secured by three point locking systems but these were all operated by the main door handles - which are now in reach of younger members of our family. I mounted these new deadbolts vertically at the top of the opening door so only adults can reach them. The other advantage of mounting them vertically was that they engage with the frame of the door rather than the oposing opening door so they add yet another level of strength/security. I used an IRWIN deadbolt jig (from ACE - sorry Amazon) to cut the holes. That was the only awkard part. Because the single sided deadbolt can't screw into an outside component it has a plastic bridge that crosses from one side of the main hole to the other. I didn't think this was explained well in the instructions and I'm probably not explaining it well now either! Anyway, that requires you to drill the main deadbolt channel through the back of the main hole (where the handle mounts) and the IRWIN 1" hole bit was not long enough for that. I used a 1" spade wood bit to make the addtional hole. The mounting screws that came with the deadbolt were not very long so I replaced those with longer screws for addtional strength. Despite the deadbolt saying it has to be mounted horizontally (or at least it says 'UP' on the 'top' of the deadbolt) it's working fine vertically and has a postive 'latch' that resists opening by shaking the door. I'm happy with my purchase.

Exactly what I asked for, works fine. Keyless are a code requirement in my state on rentals. Price was good and didn't have to search for it in the store.

I prefer the Kwikset style of hardware for attaching keyless deadbolts, and they do a good job here of replicating it. Unfortunately they are a bit more expensive, and slightly lower quality then Kwikset - however if you need Aged Bronze / 11P finish this is a good option, as Kwikset seems to have discontinued the finish for Keyless deadbolts in 11P. The product could be improved significantly by providing a convertible 6-way lock bolt that allows for Drive-in functionality. It would be a 5 star product then.

I was worried to start with because I couldn't figure out if this could be installed in my exterior steel security door. I decided to buy it anyway and return it if I needed to. The installation took about 2 minutes and everything works perfectly. I am very pleased with the product and the price. I can highly recommend this deadbolt lock for anyone that wants the decorative look and feel. I can only give this lock 5 stars but it deserves 10 stars.

Nice lock, but installing it correctly is pure luck. I don’t recommend. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Only brass plated lock listed on Amazon.

So far so good - locks are just to keep the honest - honest - had my lock changed before buying this @150.00 by a locksmith - did not deter - I am glad I found the polished chrome to match my door handle and those in the units around me (Strata)
