Good Value Backpacking or Emergency Stove - No Fuel Included
This folding steel stove is designed for use of "Fire Dragon" Gelled Alcohol Fuel 'blocks' (not included). This Fuel is available on Amazon, but expensive for what it is ($9 for 6 blister packets, or $1.50 ea v.s. $0.50 to $1 per 14g Hexamine tablet or tablets). Note that the burn time for the 27g gelled fuel is about 5 minutes, comparable to the 'effective burn' time of 14g of Hexamine. The stove is well built, with a central cavity to accept and burn the gelled fuel (or a Hexamine tablet, for that matter. More importantly, the stove comes with a slip-in-place steel plate that acts as a windshield, greatly improving effectiveness of any of these "low flame velocity" fuels. One can store 3 of the Gelled Fuel Packets in the stove. The "burn chamber" cavity is not sealed at the bottom corners, however, so a liquid fuel or a Gell that liquifies can leak from the chamber - either solder seal the corners or safely test any other fuel gel or even Hexamine tablet to insure burning residue doesn't leak. You can store a couple Hexamine tablets, a few Storm Matches, and a match striker strip in the cavity, with two gel packets to the left and right, making this a versatile day packing stove or emergency stove for your vehicle.

Great with a Few Major Caveats
This is a great pocket stove for emergencies or when weight is a major factor on whatever backcountry adventure you so chose. Using the FireDragon eco-fuel blocks is a huge step up from the mess and toxicity of hexamine tabs. The squares light quickly and one brought about 20oz of ice cold water to a decent warm level for a decent cup or either a retort or dehydrated pouch. Caveat 1: it does leave a residue (see photo). However, once it cools you can wipe/scrape it out. Non-toxic to boot if using the FireDragon blocks as they are made of solidified ethanol. Caveat 2: bear in mind the FireDragon fuel squares are solidified Ethanol alcohol. Alcohol when burned is largely invisible. My main tell that the square was lit was as it started to liquify. Caveat 3: speaking of dissolving, the fuel liquifies as it burns. Unfortunately the place for the fuel is not liquid leak proof. I noticed I could see spots of light in the corners, so I took a precaution putting a cork trivet under in case it leaked out. When it did (see photo) I was able to wet the area under it to keep it contained. Be very aware of what’s under your stove before lighting it.

Solid build
If you are here you more than likely know exactly what you’re looking at. It’s small, lightweight, and versatile and with a little soldering or perhaps JB Weld, water tight. I ordered 3, 2 for my wife and I for longer hikes and 1 to experiment with. I stole the soldering idea from another reviewer(I got a very cheap iron) and have put just about anything in it that is combustible and my results are below. -The edges are very sharp, I have been cut a lot for various reasons. -In pretty much every test the flame pushes out the opposite side of the wind screen. I even used a secondary, large screen and same result, so I would order a second stove for the screen or make one. -Because of the large fire box area DIY some fire gel and you could cook an entire meal.

Works good if you know how to use it
Works great if you know how to use it. I use mine with a windguard. It's basically the difference between warm and boiling water. I go with the Coghlan tabs, 2 side by side is enough for one boil. I also recommend getting the torch lighters with extended reach because reaching the tabs to ignite can be a pain

Great emergency stove
Try it. It’s inexpensive. Don’t time a boil. Try cooking a meal instead. Live on my car with some can food.

Great training stand-in for the real Esbitt you'll want to pack when you really leave pavement.
Sturdy steel, but that makes it weigh just a bit more than the smallest Esbitt which will do the same job in a smaller cargo footprint. The included wind screen helps cheap tablets stay lit until they're really going hot. At its price point when I bought it, it's great for informal hikes and getting the kids familiar with using this type of stove without starting the heating/oxidizing/corroding cycle (that eventually kills any stove in this class) on a slightly more expensive Esbitt. However, as of this writing, this unit's price is only about two bucks less than the $10 small Esbitt, which comes with a half dozen 14g Esbitt heat tabs (which are the only ones my experience will permit me to purchase anyway). I recommend the Esbitt as a better deal, but this one does live up to its performance claims and is a good deal as long as you consider it a "consumable" tool. Mind the burrs along the die-cut/stamped edges when you first take it out of the box.
