Pros: 1. At $100 this set is a pretty good deal, with 1050 pieces, it gives you a few hours to construct one of the more fun LEGO builds I’ve done in a while. 2. The R2-D2 is a nice size, not too small but also not oversized. This means you can display it wherever you’d like. For parents looking to buy for kids, THIS IS NOT A PLAY SET! While in some ways it could be used as one, it’s a rather fragile set and comes with a display plaque as it’s intended to be put on a shelf or table for display. 3. The end build is very satisfying, with some accessories to customize your R2 and a rotating head to pose it in any way you’d like. 4. The bonus minifigure Darth Malak is very nice touch, as Old Republic characters are rare for Lego to make, and is a good addition to anyone’s collection. Keep an eye out for any other Star Wars sets this year with special minifigures! Cons: 1. At $100 there are a substantial amount of stickers, which can be annoying to put on bricks if your hands aren’t that steady. Overall: At $100 this is a really solid set and I recommend this one far more over the UCS R2-D2 which is over $100 more. It’s a great display piece and a fun build to put together. The Darth Malak minifigure just makes this set even more appealing.

Hubby was pumped to receive this for Christmas. He put it together right away. We love star wars and R2-D2 was always my own personal favorite. It is meant for older folks, but I know my 10 yr old niece would have loved this as well. Definitely buy this if you are a fan of star wars and lego!

Very good, takes time to put together but good directions. Size is not huge but perfect to keep on the shelve once assembled. Many pieces a lot of fun!

I bought this having already bought and built 75308. This set is about half the price of that set and about half the size, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's inferior. It has about half the bricks of the previous set and isn't as detailed due to its size, but for a much lower price point, that is to be expected. I like the smaller size and I think the details it does have looks good on it. The only thing I don't really care for is the accessories. The larger build allowed for the different Artoo arms to fold up into the body. The accessories here involve you taking off the panel and replacing it with the accessory. It's fine, but you run the risk of either losing the panel or losing the accessory. The middle leg also doesn't go up into the body, it attaches to the bottom. Probably harder to lose, though. This set doesn't have the black box of the other adult oriented sets, but I would say this set is probably more adult friendly than kid friendly. I don't have any kids, though. It was easier to put together, even with the technics skeleton. The skeleton of the bigger set is way more intricate, so this might be a little more kid friendly. I think regardless of whether or not you have the bigger set, this is a good set to get. Also, it comes with a Darth Malak minifigure (from Knights of the Old Republic) and an R2D2...which if you build and collect Lego Star Wars sets, you probably have a lot of by now. I'd love to see them make a similar set, but with Chopper.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and it kept him busy for hours so I could read. The detail is what you would expect from Lego. So great. If you need some alone time from kids or spouses. This is it.

What a fabulous LEGO R2-D2 building set! My 9 year old grandson is a huge Star Wars fan, just like his father, so he will love putting this together. LEGO makes high quality products, and my grandson has many thousands of pieces for all the toy sets he has. Excellent value, with 1050 pieces. LEGO always has great instruction for the kids to follow, so there will not be an issue when he sits down to start putting it together. And I feel this set will be educational for him as he works it out. The detail of this R2-D-2 is exceptional. I assume this will take him some time to build and put together, but he is really good at this art. He will totally enjoy it. Very pleased and highly recommend.

Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend for Anniversary/Valentine’s Day! He really loved it and was excited to build it. Definitely slightly expensive but he’s reaction to this gift is priceless. We built R2 and C-3PO together. Arrived in very pristine condition —- no damaged to the box. The only thing we really would’ve want for this set are tires😔 but it looks like he’s really just built for displays.

Awesome! Very enjoyable build. Great details, really captured R2! This set comes with two minifigures This more is a more of a display rather than toy. Also note in my pic I added the extra storm trooper minifigure (white) from existing collection to the minifigure display. , he does not come with this build. I also created the 3rd leg for the R2 minifigure! BONUS: got it on sale!

The product is very detailed and has a lot of parts to it, but I thing I don't like is that the attachments aren't retractable, you have to stick them on and it's annoying to display like that. Otherwise it's good, solid 4/5.
