Should've listened to the 1-star reviews
While I understand that colour e-ink will never be as vibrant as a regular screen, the colours here are so pale they might as well not exist. The comic page in the photo has yellow backgrounds, but you wouldn't know it looking at this screen, where everything is rendered as a greyish white no matter how I changed the setting; vivid mode only made everything more washed out (my phone's camera actually makes the screen look more vibrant than it actually is - in person, the girl's jacket looks more grey than the bright red it's meant to be). The kindle app crashed repeatedly despite coming preloaded on the device, which was generally slow. My unit also had a dead pixel. Even on full brightness, the screen is noticeably dull, even taking into account that colour e-ink screens are dimmer than black and white ones. Disappointing!

not a 7 Inch display
This is described as a 7" display. The device is 7 inches diagonally but the display itself is 6.5 That is to say, if you have a modern phone - it's that small. Beyond that, the screen is quite dull. The backlighting just never goes bright enough for me and is very dull compared to 2017 7.8 eReader that this was supposed to replace. I knew going in that Colour screens don't have the same PPI as greyscale so that wasn't the issue, it's brightness and size. The features of the Bigme device are rather good though, so while I'm returning this one I have purchased an older 7.8 greyscale device instead that I'm hoping will have a decent backlight.
