It's taken me a while to get to a review of this album, because I find it so difficult to discuss anything about Jonghyun without becoming incredibly sad. Even after all this time, his death feels like a punch to the heart for me. I've tried to understand why that is, when I was barely more than a casual fan, but...it does hurt, for some reason. Maybe because I mourn the loss of his exceptional talent as a singer and songwriter, as exemplified in this album.Like all of Jonghyun's "accessible" albums, there's a polished pop sheen and playfulness to most of the songs, particularly the first single released from it, Shinin', with its groovy disco beat and jazzy vocal stylings that were rapidly becoming a signature of his. Yet, behind the shimmering surface, Poet Artist has much to say that is serious and not at all sweet and light.Hashtag takes a delicious yet dark and angry swipe at the internet trolling community for its mindless viciousness, but he sings it all with languid and almost sweet vocals, reflecting the "polite" facade hiding the boredom and empty lives that are the primary fuel for the sinister remarks lying in wait for the unwitting. The backing vocals doing a quasi-response to his vocal calls is a perfect representation shallow gossips repeating what they hear. The trippy R&B beat makes the song sound light and innocuous, but the finger snaps aren't subtle at all in sending the message about the hidden aggression in the troll's demand for attention, as if someone is snapping their fingers for you to jump and respond like Pavlov's dog. It's in details like that where Jonghyun shines as not only a songwriter, but an arranger and producer.I'm afraid that's all I can review now, because I'm getting too depressed from this part alone. I'll come back and update when I can handle doing more.

Jonghyun left us with a beautiful Album, his voice is angelic as always and this album has such a peaceful vibe to it. Shining, Only One You Need And Hashtag are so chill and give me summer time feels. I love listening to this album on the deck laying in the sun, thank you Jonghyun for this last gift. By the way the photo book is absolutely gorgeous, he looks so amazing!

I was finally able to purchase this . It was hard because it was his last solo album. I loved every song but it made me really sad. He has such beautiful voice and all of his music is amazing. He was such a gifted music artist, composer, producer, and poet. He was inspiring to many.

I can’t listen to it without becoming sad but I’m so glad I bought this album! His songs are amazing the pictures are beautiful and I will always keep this album on my lowest days. You did well jonghyun💜
