The hardware and build quality is at a very high level rivaling sets that cost 4 times as much. They sound great. Bought for a young beginning drummer on advise from a musician friend. Said this kit is one that you won't have to replace a few years down the line. After assembling it became very clean he was right. Snare stand and throne not included but very reasonable to buy from Amazon or local store.

If you know anything about drums (or read the description) you know this shell pack is just the drums and not any hardware beyond the tom holders. So no need to knock off any stars for that. This does rate 5 stars given the quality of this kit at this price point. Do yourself a favor and buy some new heads. A set of Evans UV2’s woke up this set, as did the Evans Genera HD smoothed out the snare. Now that everything is tuned, I’m really happy with the kit. Great build quality and fit and finish. Tone of course depends on tuning but I’ve gotten big booming sounds to punchy attacks with some overtones. Yamaha delivers.

This is a beautiful, five piece drum set. Yamaha is, of course, a very good name for low priced drum sets. However, I fell for the pictures that showed a high hat and two other symbols in the grouping and did not bother to read the fine print that said that the other accessories were not included. I just won’t express my frustration at how annoying that really is. It’s hard to believe that a reputable company like Yamaha would stoop that low anyhow, it’s a nice drum set and even without the accessories it’s a very good price.

For the price its pretty good...Definitely not a live show kit in any way...you can MAKE it sound better of course but its shiny and pretty.

The set is the beginning line for Yamaha and made of poplar, an excellent wood for tone. As I put new heads on, which is something I think everyone will need to do to be totally happy, the Drums came alive!. Snare Drum is snappy. Tom’s are full and get that punch a drum set requires these days. Tone is excellent as I compared to my maple set by DW. I applied 2 ply Evans for the batter head and with the low mil resonant head, the sound fell in place. I compared them to my DW kit and was impressed with the sound. I was very surprised that I would be able to get a $379 complete shell kit to sound anywhere near the quality of the maples by DW. Thank you very much! With proper cymbals and hardware, the set will hold its own in most venues. I am very happy that I I was able to get the quality I was looking for in this Yamaha Rydeen kit.
