The little sods have even spun their webs over the device itself!! Money well spent? Not sure how well they work on repelling spiders, as I just plugged it in this morning (none so far...?), but contrary to the product description, it definitely affects cats. I opened the door to let our cat in and she made it as far as the doorway, froze and ran. I'd actually forgotten about the repellers, so had no idea what had spooked her. My husband tried to let her in a couple hours later and she did the same thing, which is when he suggested it could be the repellers. So we tried an experiment. Tried to let her in again with the repellers on and she just stood in the garden, meowing, but wouldn't come near the door. Turned off the repellers and she immediately came right in. Once she was inside, we turned them back on and she freaked out! Started slinking around, crying, hid under the bed. Food for thought for pet owners considering buying this.As for the noise that other reviewers have mentioned, our repellers are completely silent. Also received the item very quickly after purchase. But as far as spider repelling...we may never know.UPDATE: It took a few days, but our cat finally got used to the repellers. We had to keep her in the house with them turned on for a few days before she started to get used to them. She went into hiding at first, but gradually accepted that nothing was going to kill her. That said, they do seem to work for repelling spiders...the big ones, anyway. We've still gotten onsie-twosie smaller ones here and there. I can deal with that. I will say that I don't think the range on these is enough to cover an entire house. I bought two of them, just in case. Our biggest spider problem was in our foyer. I haven't seen a large spider in the foyer since we put one of these in there. I put the other in our living room (just off the foyer) and we've had two run-ins with large spiders in there since. Both times, I discovered my husband had unplugged the repeller to plug in one of his chargers (grr!). So these things do seem to work. I am still seeing a few small spiders after 4 weeks so not really sure if they are working. Delivery was prompt much to my relief and I plugged the device in straight away. It is very simple to set up and the only minor issue is that my twelve year old daughter can hear it in one of her ears but she seems to have gotten used to it! I actually found it encouraging that it was doing something and was amazed that her hearing was so good. I have cleaned away all evidence of mouse and haven't seen any fresh evidence so from my point of view so far so good. Obviously the proof of the product's reliability lies in the lack of evidence to the contrary but I would say the product has given me peace of mind and for the price and ease of use- I have just plugged it in and forgotten about it- I consider it well worth it.As far as spiders are concerned I am very happy to live in peace with them but my two girls can be a bit pathetic in the presence of any eight-legged creatures. I think they would say that the situation has improved but time will tell. I think September is typically a prolific time for them (the spiders) so we shall see. I still found the occasional spider around the room, even after the one month period where apparently they are spooked out of their hiding places. Also a few months down the line and I think its completely broken. I can hear this repeated noise coming from it, which trust me... gets annoying.
