Perfect for TrueNAS Scale.
Using this with a TrueNAS Scale server w/ an 11 drive pool. Have been upgrading the drives to larger size and was getting intermittent errors with the previous controller card. It would loose connection to drives intermittently, step down the speed from 6GB to 3 GB then 1.5 GB then reset back to 6GB. Work for a 15 or so min then another drive would drop and reset. It would also take over a day to resilver each drive. This card was immediately recognized by TrueNAS, is showing no errors at all, not dropping any drives, running at full speed at all times and resilvering a drive is now only taking 9 hrs each. After some settling in resilvering a drive only took between 5-6 hrs.

Easy install and worry free
Installed and working in minutes. Using for HDD's. Plenty fast for those. Cables are thin which I guess is normal for this type; makes it better for airflow. No problems. Just what I needed.

Perfect for an Unraid Server build. Recognized immediately.
I got this to use with an Unraid Server build. This is very easy to install and Unraid recognized it immediately. I didn’t have to do anything extra. I currently have 6 HDDs connected to this with no problems and they function as expected. One thing to keep in mind that I was not aware of if you are using an optical drive you have to have it connected directly to the motherboard not to this. I’ll update this after a few months of use.

Works flawlessly - might think it's pricey, but well worth it!
Works flawlessly with 10 spinning drives - not one issue experienced in several weeks since installed! Yes, there are cheaper products available, but they don't work as good as this one based on my past experience.

Works like a charm
This works amazing well as a HBA, and is plug and play compatible with Linux (and probably windows, don't know for sure though, as I don't use it). Insanely fast speeds and let me go from 8 to 16 drives without incident. Even was detected and bootable by consumer motherboards as opposed to needing a server board. Only issue is it runs hot, but that is a know issue for these cards, and one that can easily be remedied with a case-fan. Not as issues so much as a good to be aware of: this shipped with a very very old firmware/bios, but the SAS3FLASH utility can easily flash the latest to it, and your off to the races.

TrueNAS-ready HBA
When I added 4 new drives to my DIY NAS, I also needed to upgrade my HBA (a IBM M1015 flashed into IT mode) and chose this 9305-16i. In the six months since purchasing it, I have been very happy with this 9305-16i. It has dutifully done its job without issue since. As an added bonus, the vendor was gracious enough to send me a full-height PCI-e bracket after I absent-mindedly misplaced mine when I decided to move my DIY NAS into a new enclosure and needed to swap out the bracket.
