Works great even in reflector housing.
Light output is bright and throws far. I have been using the high end Sylvania, philips, osram, and hella bulbs for years and they are all great bulbs. In the last couple of years I started to run led in all my rigs. I skipped over the hid because I didn't have projector housings. The led lights are great, they are bright and use low wattage. Problem is the output varies greatly with the beam pattern from bulb to bulb. Which means you may need to try a few to get good lighting. Then the color no matter what has a blue tint. I tried a lot and have the purest white ones I could find and returned the rest. Now I decided to try the hid because one of my trucks had terrible beam pattern no matter which led bulb I used. I put in 35w ac 6000k 9006 bulbs and they are amazing. There is perfect beam pattern and the color has almost no blue and is perfect white. The throw on these is much farther than the led. The led looks brighter on wall or for close objects, but not for down road. The led were almost too bright for close objects, major glare to me. My biggest worry was the glare to other drivers. Actually the led are worse for oncoming glare. I had lights aimed perfect but still got flashed all the time, I never get flashed with the hid. I loved these so much that I put a set in another vehicle which had led. Now that has better lights. The only issue is start up time, you wouldn't want these as your brights or fogs. I still use led for my fogs(3000k) and brights(6000k). I have extremely bright high beams but no one else is around when those are on. The 3000k fogs are great, tons of light flooded in front down low and to the sides. Yes the 3000k do work better for fog, snow, and rain. Update, just went through winter, it got down to -15 and the hid lights still kicked on. They might have taken an extra second or so to get to full brightness. Also tried the 4300k set and that is the best, the light output over the 6000k is vastly superior. The 4300k doesn't blind back as much and is easier on the eyes for me and oncoming drivers. 4300k is also optimal for inclement weather. I run 4300k on my truck since that is more likely to be driven in bad weather. The 6000k is still used in my minivan. I am running the Bangzhu 9005 led in highbeams, these are great for low beams too. They have perfect white color almost 5500k I would say. The best part is their beam pattern though the chip design is great, it is just the led chip, there isn't a bunch of extra clutter around it do they put off a good 360 degree light.BANGZHU 9005/HB3 LED Headlight Bulbs, High/Low Beam Fog Light, CanBus Ready Error Free for Quick Installation, Silent Turbofan All in One Conversion Kit, Perfect for Halogen Replacement (2 PACK) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HGNVYQP/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_542N8VDV91QEB6VW1KWG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Works Well
I've used these a couple of times over the years and they seem pretty solid. The kit in my other car is 18 months old and has seen 20,000 miles of use with a good portion of those miles at night. If you switch to a better quality bulb like Morimoto you'll get a better beam pattern.

Not worth the hassle.
I was expecting a better brightness than the LED bulbs I have on now, but I was disappointed to see that it was slightly worse. They work, have a good manual and great finished product, I just don't think is worth trying to mount the ballast and drill through the dust cap when LEDs are available.

ABSOLUTE JUNK. Waste of time and money
This hid kit is by far the absolute worst lighting product I've ever purchased. Have to modify the headlight assembly for all the gadgets to fit. Once installed the you have to check polarity then switch it inside the headlight assembly. After proper function you start the vehicle and the lights flicker, did seem to ease up after warming about 3 minutes. Unfortunately if you switch between H/L and the time starts over agin. Once on the road after dark the lights have about 10% emitted light. You'd be better off with a zippo lighter. They shouldn't be allowed to sell these.

So far great
So far these HIDs work great on my F150. A lot easier to install than I originally thought.
