Works well, installed few weeks ago, brass door plate 5stars and hoping long durability.
Just instal a few weeks ago so can't rate durability. trusting it last a very long time. Lee products are normally very reliable. The door is to a pantry. Very HAPPY with this switch. It works well and the measurements were good as it replaced a door switch and the cover plate measured 3.5" long. I wish all products would list as this one did, the width, height and length when offering items. It is extremely important to have measurements when order these things. Seller was good to show 3.5 inch length. This Included an electrical box if one is doing a new install. The width worked out because of the comments form buyers were very good to post and show the door jams etc and write comments. The old door switch (to a large kitchen pantry) quit working after 40 years, go figure. LOL, and was hard wired. This product had enough lead wire and workable to hard wire with wire nuts (not included) and also to simply wrap a band of electrical tape (not included) around for second security. Tape may not be needed with wire nuts but added safety. The brass screws included, good length, fit the former holes. All in all, it is a great ending to a search for: "where is a door switch to replace this 40+ year old switch. Great find and quality product! Would use this company again. NO brick and mortar electrical store or hardware store had anything like this. Thank you LEE ELECTRIC!

Works great, but difficult to install.
This door switch works great, but is a challenge to install. During new construction it would be a lot easier, but in a house with finished walls you have to be very creative in how you will get to the necessary wiring and then route it to this box. The other difficulty is cutting out the wood in the door frame to make room for this unit to be installed. It requires some substantial space so there will be a lot of material to remove. This should only be attempted by someone with both woodworking skills and electrical skills. That being said, once it is installed, it works flawlessly. I have installed 3 of these in my home and have had no problems at all. I was constantly entering closets in my lower level and forgetting to shut off the lights. I don't have to think about it now. When I open the door the light is on and when I leave and close the door I can rest assured that the light is off. There is a slight audible click to let you know that the switch has actuated.

High quality, very functional, and very hard to find elsewhere!
Well made, works perfectly, and is VERY hard to find in stores. We have two of them in use, and they work great. They are not terribly sensitive to door alignment and as such do not falsely turn on or off with door wiggling. They are the perfect addition to a closet light system. It requires some carpentry skills to install properly in a door jamb, as it is flush-mounted. Electrical hookup is simple, but running the wires within the woodwork also requires some carpentry skills. We installed them in brand new door installations and as such the job was simple; it would be a challenging retro-fit on an existing and unchanged closet.

Low force switch better than what I replaced.
Very nice appearance and function. The force needed to activate these is very low, and there's a significant "breakaway" after activation so the force to keep them depressed is smaller still. I used these to replace some ancient switches that were so hard to press that the door couldn't hold them shut without a super strong latch. With these, I don't even need a latch, as the small amount of door friction can hold them in. Be sure you measure your existing switch to make sure these are an exact fit. If so, I think youll be very happy with these. I would NOT recommend these for new installations. As others have noted, installing these from scratch in old work is not simple.

I wish it lasted longer.
These work great but wear out after a few years. Still in my opinion the best looking switch of this type. I wish the plastic switch were available on its own but the closest I can find costs almost as much as the whole kit.

Great replacement
This was a perfect replacement for my original switch that I installed about 9 years ago. With everyone going in and out of our pantry as often as they do, this is probably the most-used light switch in the house, and the fact that it lasted 9 years before it went out is a testament to its durability and longevity. The button failed on my last unit and I'm hoping to get another 9-10 years out of this one.

Easier on a new build, but workable on existing
I installed this on a coat closet in our hall and it works great, even if it does make me think I left the light on every time I open the door. It was a bit difficult to install, as it took a lot of maneuvering to get it to fit right finally, but was worth all the effort. I used a Dremel multi-max to actually cut into the door frame, then drilled a hole through the remaining studs to open wall for the wire, then fished the romex up. On a new build, this would be a piece of cake to put these in as you can plan power to the door frame. On existing builds, spend some time planning how you are going to get power to the switch, especially if you don't already have a light in the closet. I ended up using this to power the top outlet on a two spot outlet, then hung rope lights inside the door frame plugged into that outlet. Lights the closet fully and is almost invisible.

Short lived
Pro: inexpensive Installation ok if done during framing stage Some reviews complained the switch didn’t work properly upon initial installation. We experienced some initial sticking of the switch for the first week but then it worked perfectly after that. I chalked it up to a “break in” period. Con: sticky after initial installation. Not long lived. Installed in early 2020. Just died June 2021. In short, I was just about to write a review contradicting complaints of poor quality. Then it quit. I took it out, tried to do something to help, but now it doesn’t work at all. The switch is completely enclosed in a sealed plastic box. There are no serviceable parts. The only option is the scrap pile. I am replacing it with the U.L listed metal unit that costs twice as much. I wish I had bought it the first time.

I put this into the hinge side of a normal door frame for a walk-in closet. With the plate mounted flush to the wood trim (i.e. chiseled inset), the light goes off when the door is about 2-4 inches from closed. This is fantastic since it is common enough not to fully latch the door, but the light still goes off. I am still benefitting from the brownie points I got from my wife for this purchase.

Exactly what I was looking for, a switch that I can install in my closet door jam that will activate the light inside just like the expensive hotels. Looks solid and reliable simple inline connection. Description and picture exactly as posted by the seller.
