Decent alternative to traditional compost
Arrives compact, using for a wide variety of usage from seedlings to houseplants and more environmentally friendly compared to peat. Simply add water and makes 75 litres of soil. A lot lighter than the traditional options. ⛔️ Packaging for this product is in plastic, for a more environmentally conscious option over using traditional compost or peat, I would have preferred a more alternative packaging.

Great stuff, good price
Most importantly, this helps enormously to retain water in hanging baskets and pots. It is packaged in a condensed form which makes it easy to handle. I just put lumps in a bucket of water to make a sludge that I mix with compost. Time will tell how often it needs to be replaced and then how it will work in the compost heap, hopefully both answers will be positive.

Excellent.
Excellent quality and fantastic for bulking up home made compost for my precious organically grown vegetables. 75L for £15.99 is excellent value, especially when garden centres and the like are charging substantially more for much smaller amounts. Will definitely be back for more.

Best to bulk up compost, for drainage! It's MY 4th purchase.
I've bought this multiple times. I used it mainly to bulk up my compost. It creates great drainage. It's supposed to retain moisture and it does, but when it dries then it's rock solid. I've never had a good experience using it for seedlings or moisture-loving plants. It is recommended for seedlings since it has no nutrients, as a peat alternative for the same purpose as peat. With seedlings they seem to suffocate, it stays moist ages, maybe too long but seems too SOLID to let airflow when by itself. Multiple seedlings have rotted in it. Then I forget about it since it never needs water top up, then it gets ROCK HARD and won't accept any water I give it, so plants dry out! Once it dries out, it WILLL not let water back in!!! So hard to get water to the plant. ALSO, getting a plant out of it to repot with proper compost, it's IMPOSSIBLE to get the coir off as it's gone solid. Maybe soaking in water before will help but I'd rather not. You can see it comes as a brick, it's ROCK HARD til it is soaked in water, then nice and fluffy but you can't necessarily do that with every plant when you want to repot it... and you DO want to take off the coir before repotting if the coir has got SOLID hard around the roots... since the roots don't seem to get water. One or the other. Too wet for ages, locking moisture in without oxygen flow, or too hard and locking moisture out. What I DOOOO love it for hence 5 stars, is.... inexpensive media which works GREAT when MIXED with compost, perlite or peat. Bulks up compost, creates coarse material for drainage and airflow (as long as compost is blended with it, it's sort of hay-ish..rough ). I mix 50% compost, 30% Coco coir, 20% perlite and that's a happy mix for me. :)

Amazing bedding for small pets
Use this as bedding for my rats because they love digging, and had no problems with it. Low dust, doesn't smell bad and grows quickly once it absorbes water. My rats love it

SNAKE SUBSTRATE SUPPLEMENT...??
This review is for reptile keepers. If you keep snakes that require mid-high humidity levels and struggle with bark chips such as Orchid Bark alone, this could be your answer. I have traditionally used fine Orchid Bark (as much for visual effect as for humidity) and just included a moss box so my "Beauties" have somewhere to "soak". But a family member recently put me onto this. I now use around 50/50 (by hand full) fine grade Orchid bark mixed in with this (I have also tried mixing in a little Sphagnum moss, but it's not so pleasing on the eye, so am still using a moss box as my snakes require high humidity 75-100%). It really holds moisture, and when mixed with the Orchid bark looks stunning, so is an awesome addition to all of my vivariums. It not only allows me to keep higher overall humidity levels, but it works really well in spot cleaning, as the moisture from the poo/wee gets sucked into a clump for easy removal. Noice! Blessings... Puccini

Great product
That time of the year again to start seeds indoors. I wanted compost that retains water well but allows for good drainage. This product does not disappoint. Well packaged and compact. When water was added, it expanded beautifully and was lovely and soft. My seeds have started to sprout already from starting in this compost for just a week. Looking forward to the time when I can transplant these seedlings in the garden. I’ll probably add this mixture coco coir compost with regular garden to the garden bed too.
