Leaders Without Borders: 9 Essentials for Everyday Leaders

Doug Dickerson does a wonderful job of outlining how each of us can expand our sphere of influence. The concepts presented are illustrated with stories that provide the reader with a clear understanding. These concepts can be implemented into the lives of each of us regardless of our position or industry. Leaders Without Borders has an immediate impact on how we view leadership and the role that we play in inspiring ourselves and others.

These “essentials” seemed common sense most of the time and were only supported by anecdotal evidence. Many of the stories were new to me, but they didn’t give the necessary support that these “essentials” were well-researched or well-thought-out. Seems more like a resource for pastors looking for stories to support their sermon points than as a primer on leadership.

Excellent book. I had to read it for one of my grad classes. Reflecting on these leadership essentials has changed my mindset for the better.

A formulaic and simplistic book with little more depth than the chapter titles. It has several long-form quotes on every page. This book could have been condensed to a few dozen pages and nothing would be lost. You'll find yourself skipping paragraphs out of boredom and tedium and realize you missed nothing noteworthy.
