I couldn't get the remote to connect automatically, but when I entered the code (from the downloaded manual) it worked immediately.

Read before you buy / high compatibility issues
Sometime it works and other times it doesn’t - after using it for about a month still unable to figure out what causes its mood swings. Sometimes at the middle of the night we wake up to find that the fan is off - and such kind of problem. Compatibility issues are not addressed properly
