Thousand Oaks Optical SolarLite Solar Filter Film (ND 5) - 3" (76mm) Square Piece

First use I could see lots of sunspots. Very happy I now can use my se6 celestron in the day ! Thanks

Used this to create a solar filter for a mirror lens on my camera. Managed to get a phot of sun spots which is what I was after. Not as detailed a picture as I had hoped but will need to experiment further when the weather is better, may have been a focusing or vibration issue. This sheet is dead cheap for having a go, can cut with scissors too.

As well as the solar fil I bought a screw on metal lens hood. The hood is for my Tamron telescopic lens for my Canon EoS 800D. the fil is securely attached to the outer face of the lens hood, carefully attached flat, I see a separate question on which way round the film should be, incorrect answers were given, according to the supplier the reflective surface should face the Sun. The fil is strong and secured easily, and is double secured to the tube of the lens hood. Direct attachment, plus a securing ring externally. The pictures are the first taken and I need to review settings. “Seeing”was not at its best, a very cloudy sky. Pictures 2 is a close crop of pic. 3.

Price was reasonable and delivery time acceptable. Don't expect to get the same results as picture shown on Amazon, i.e. the image colour will not be orange. Before purchase I enquired if it did give an orange image and was told yes. The pictures attached were from my Unistellar eVscope and show the first image just with the solar film, the second image shows it with a Baader Solar Continuum filter as well. Focus is a little out but that was down to me and shortage of time to sort out.

I did not know what to expect from this product as it is the first time I have done solar photography but this product is perfect for me.

I had some PCB material cut to a ring that fits over the end of my scope and I have attached the film to the ring with double sided tape. Works perfectly and is exactly the right size for my VC200L. I store it in bubblewrap.

I'm using this for taking sun sights and you can see a clear image of it when viewed through this filter material. I cut it to fit a lens with acrylic sheet each side and in a push-on frame.

I have no idea what happened but within 30 seconds of me putting this filter on the front of my telescope and pointing it at the Sun, it started to smoke and burnt a hole straight through. Luckily I wasn't looking through the eye piece at the time or I wouldn't have noticed until it was too late. I don't think I did anything wrong. I made the filter to fit on the very front of the telescope so nothing was magnified going through it. Needless to say I packed the telescope away, looks like I won't be seeing Mercury go across the sun on may 9th :(

Als ich diese Folie bestellt habe wollte ich mal testen ob sie die Sonne wirklich in dem Farbton darstellt der hier gezeigt wird. Ja es ist so Das die Folie sehr dünn sein soll kann ich leider nicht bestätigen die Folie von Baader ist definitiv dünner. nachdem ich genug Zeit hatte bis die Lieferung kam habe ich noch eine kleine Bauanleitung als .pdf gemacht da es bestimmt vielen genauso geht wie mir die ewig überlegen wie kann ich die Folie halbwegs dauerhaft verarbeiten bei dem Preis sollte sie ja ein paar Jahre gute Dienste leisten Bei meiner Lieferung ging leider bei der ersten Bestellung bei der Post etwas schief sie kam nie an der freundliche Service dieses Anbieters schickte die Folie aber nochmal raus diesemal mit ID Tracking Nummer und knapp 2 Wochen später war sie da hoffe es hat Euch weitergeholfen LG Andi

Funciona perfecto! Lo usé para el eclipse de abril en mi telescopio, realicé fotos muy bonitas. Todo bien

I ordered 2 of these films to make a set of solar filters for my Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binoculars. They worked very well for both visual and photographic observing. I would definitely purchase other sizes to create filters for my dob and refractor for general solar observations as retail solar filters are fairly expensive...unless you are using them regularly.

Super, montage sur du carton résistant un peu fastidieux mais très bonne observation une fini, à voir dans le temps et prévoir de bien le protéger car la feuille est très fine.

Ery happy with this product. Used for 2024 full eclipse. Worked perfectly.
