These Toslink optical audio devices are error-proof. You either get perfect sound or none at all. This passive splitter should work well with most modern systems. Older systems with a fainter LED transmitter, may not operate as well. It is all about the amount of LED light in your device - if it is bright, splitting is no problem. If it is not, look to buy an active repeater instead.

I can hear my TV now without blasting everyone else out of the room. I bought this device to split the optical output from the TV to the sound bar and add a set of wireless headphones. The headphones have their own volume control, so my wife was able to reduce the volume on the TV almost in half and I don't need to keep asking, "What did she say."

Worked just fine.

In my Setup both ends are the same. Same Speaker, Same DAC, Same Toslink Cable. Both work when plugged into Encoder individually. I do get light through the SOUNDFAM splitter to both jacks. But I get no sound when splitting to both, or with just one (like if it was a 6" toslink extension).The Male cable connector is correct and is nice an beefy (not likely to break / the reason I picked this particular unit)BUT The twin female ''connectors'' on the back are NOT ACTUAL Toslink Jacks. They are cheap square holes that are NOT the right shape, don't have a door, and don't hole the cables well. The seem to have Fiber sticking out of them as well (might be why it doesn't work).Am I missing something or is this just Junk? Amazon is contacting the Company thru a Amazon QS inquiry. I'll update the review if anything changes.Update: 9/11/22; After giving the seller two weeks to reply to Amazon QS inquiry, with no reply, Amazon is shipping me a second identical unit. The seller has also not responded to this review which has been up for a week. This is not filling me with confidence that the second one will work either.Update:4/4/23; Second was the same. Purchased a powered Optical Audio 4x2 Matrix (ASIN:B00HQ2R37S) for about twice as much. That works great. I highly recommend it over this.

Did not connect at once. And would disconnect randomly

For the longest time, I couldn't get my Creative Soundbar and my Sony TV to consistently sync up. I went through tons of HDMI cables troubleshooting each time which at the end lead me to a very pricey E-Arc 8K HDMI cable which turned out to be useless. In the end, with optical, I just simply plug in and use and with the Soundfam swivel and 90 Degree heads, install and hiding cables were made super easy. I should've done this from the start.

My surround soundbar takes HDMI-eARC, HDMI or optical inputs. The soundbar is connected to the TV via the eARC port while the other HDMI ports on the TV all have devices connected. I thought of having the optical connection between the TV and the soundbar as a backup in case I required the eARC port for some other device with HDMI output. Hence the purchase of the cable.The cable appears to be of a very sturdy build, connects very easily on both ends and gives a very decent sound output from the TV to the soundbar. I like it and would recommend its purchase for anyone requiring a Toslink optical cable.
