Great product.
When it comes to safety it is always easy to justify the price of something. I will say that these detectors seem to increase in price every time I have to replace one though. They seem to need replaced about every 2 years as their filters will no longer work. I have been buying this brand of detectors for over 10 years and they always seem to do the job well, which is what ultimately counts. Easy to install and very fast shipping too.

Avoid a fire, that’s what this is for
I had to buy the same ALARM that I had previously to this one so that I could just snap it in.. It seems to work I guess I don’t know. I clicked it and made a beeping sound, and I almost went deaf.. One time I was grilling some meat on my iron pan and forgot to put the vent n and then also. I forgot to turn the heat down, say burn the meat burn the pan and the damn alarm went off crazy. I thought they were gonna find me $1000 if they say that the fire department fines you if you set off an alarm, but I think that’s only for my hallway. Check your HOA also might be subject to a huge Fine. If you set up the alarm in the hallway, so get one of these so you know, beforehand doesn’t get out of hand.

Reliable Protection You Can Count On!
The Kidde Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector has given me real peace of mind in my home. Installation was quick and straightforward, and I love that it’s AA battery powered, so I don’t have to worry about hardwiring or losing power during outages. The LED warning light indicators are clear and easy to understand, providing instant feedback on the detector’s status. I appreciate the dual functionality—having both smoke and carbon monoxide detection in one unit saves space and ensures comprehensive safety. It’s compact but highly effective, and the alarm is loud enough to alert everyone in the house without being overwhelmingly harsh. Maintenance is simple, and the battery lasts a long time before needing replacement. Overall, this detector is a must-have for any household. It’s dependable, easy to use, and provides an essential layer of protection that makes me feel much safer day and night.

an air/dust blower can clear a “fault” message
Three years ago I purchased two Model 900-CUDR photoelectric smoke/CO combo alarms; one stopped working after two years. I installed fresh AA Energizer Max batteries, but the unit continued to emit a fault signal (three beeps every 60 seconds). After reading a review suggesting a 30–45 second blast with an air/dust blower, I tried that and the green LED began blinking every 60 seconds. The back label specifies only Energizer E91, Gold Peak 15A, or Golden Power GLR6A batteries. I recommend it also note that an air/dust blower can clear a “fault” message since most users don’t keep the manual. I’m relieved to have found a fix, but it took me a few months to investigate and the detector was inactive during that time, so I rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Hope this is helpful. (

Replaced My Old One Seamlessly
I bought this to replace my older Kidde unit that was about five years old and started chirping (the dreaded double beep that tells you it’s officially done). I was fully prepared to re-mount the new one but to my surprise, it fit perfectly on the existing wall bracket, which saved me time and frustration. Installation was fast, and I’ve had it up for over eight months now. It runs on AA batteries, and I’m still using the same set with no issues. No false alarms, no problems. The LED indicators are easy to read, and the unit stays quiet unless it’s doing its job. It’s reliable, simple to use, and doesn’t overcomplicate something that’s meant to keep you safe. Highly recommend if you're looking to upgrade or replace your old detector.

Only had it a few days but it went up without a problem
Only had it a few days but it went up without a problem. Filled in the old holes of the previous detector and drilled two new ones. Easy. Used the plastic inserts for the screws. Left the supplied dust cover on the unit until ready to test. Looks good, too, not as ugly as the main competitor's unit. Like that it's 2 AA batteries rather than 9 volt.

FAULT condition (3 beeps every 60 seconds) renders it GARBAGE
Bought this on February 7, 2025 and on February 27, 2026 it became garbage, with a random, "FAULT", 3-beeps every 60 seconds for no reason. Even after resetting by removing the batteries and also trying fresh batteries. It interrupted my Zoom interview causing the dog to bark like crazy and then two days later, woke me up at 4:50 AM on a Sunday! Others have also reported this fault condition, making the unit unusable. Waste of money. It should last much longer than one year. 3-5-26 Update: After calling Kidde Support, I was informed that the User Manual specifies that there are only two brands of AA batteries that are allowed to be used, and the only common of the two is Energizer. Additionally, I was told that aside from new Energizer batteries, I should use an air/dust blower for 30-45 seconds to clean the unit. No, I did not read that Manual. My first thought is how finnicky this thing is. If I had known about this "care and feeding" plan, I would not have purchased. They won't replace the failed unit until after I try these things. I have done as I was told and will report back.

No Problems Here.
No wiring and it fits the space and it fits the space, and mounting holes, of our last detector. Easy to install and it looks fine. Price is within reason. I would purchase again.
