Exactly what I was looking for and I’m loving it so far. In fact, I even bought a second one. I don’t have space or particular desire for surround sound with my tv. It’s way more effort for marginal benefit. So years ago I bought a couple of pretty good bookshelf speakers, a subwoofer, and a big pioneer receiver. Eventually the receiver died and I didn’t want to buy another receiver with way more features than I needed. I specifically wanted hdmi input with ARC so I can just use my one TV remote to control volume. I also wanted it to handle a 2.1 setup. I was worried this SMSL amp wouldn’t work with my powered subwoofer, but it turns out it does still work if hooked up correctly. The subwoofer must have speaker-level inputs and then the subwoofer’s internal crossover filters the low frequencies. I tried it out and it sounds perfect. So I bought another for my other TV for basically the same reasons: - way cheaper than other receivers - sounds better than my previous, more expensive receiver - very small, well built, looks nice - has exactly the features I want (ARC)

The amplifier came in plug-and-play. Good sound and plenty of power for listening to classical music on my 3-way bookshelf speakers. At about 5 inches wide, it is compact and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, much more so than my bulky old Onkyo receiver, may it rest in peace. Can’t beat the performance at that price range. I connected it to an old Samsung phone via an optical cable and an USB C-2-optical adapter, and through the phone to a Synology NAS running my music database. Now I can play all my music via a Synology App called DS Audio.

Great for adding an amp using hdmi arc to a tv, provided you have some bookshelf, speakers or something similar. The subwoofer hook up is kind of useless because who has passive subs nowadays that’s why I’m taking off one star, but it sounds great with just some bowers and Wilkins bookshelf speakers and plenty of power for our bedroom, but obviously not for like a big home stereo speaker! I guess it’s about 35 watts per channel RMS

The Infineon Merus MA12070 comes in 2 flavors The SMSL A50PRO has the digital input version of this chip(MA12070P) My other SMSL AO100 has the Analog input version (MA12070) The Low Level Detail from these Infineon Amps are amazing Even at very low (barely perceptible) playback levels, I can tell what song is being played and hear every word Playback from my older Amps (Late 1970's to 1990's) I often cannot even tell what song is playing at those same playback levels Subwoofer channel's volume is a bit strange and looks like 500 - 599 volume levels when it is really S00 - S99 Included Power Supply is rated at 24 Volts X 6.75 Amps, or 162 Watts Power Consumption is rated at 36 Watts and is VERY misleading Power consumption is dependent upon the type of Speakers being used The internal amp died on my pair of klipsh promedia Ultra 2.0 computer speakers almost 15 years ago and the SMSL A50Pro never drew more than 3 Watts at any Volume Level with these speakers These speakers are rated for 3 Ohm Impedence and have a DC resistance of 0-Ohms (Seriously) Pairing an extremely efficient pair of speakers such as these with an extremely efficient Amplifier like the A50Pro will draw between 2.4 and 2.8 Watts at any Volume I tested the power draw with both the AC supply and a Killowatt Meter as well as with an Anker 537 Power Bank using a Chargerlab Power-Z Model C240 with the JacobsParts USB-C Type C Female Input to 5.5x2.5mm 20V DC Power Charge PD Trigger Adapter Cable on Amazon This Amp will be used for Power Down Situation from a DC supply Only Using this Amp Paired with my Sandy Bridge Laptop, I'm getting a Solid 5 hour runtime from just the Anker 537 Power Bank Alone (No Internal Laptop Battery) The Laptop Streams Audio from the Internet at 9 Watts in Linux or 10 Watts in Windows + 2.6 Watts Average for the SMSL Amp For AC Power, I'll be using the AO100 For Battery Power, these Infineon Merus Amps are unbeatable for the amount of sound quality you get at these power levels AWESOME! 12 thumbs up!

Weak bottom end and weak top end. OK in the middle though. Plugs are very tight fitting. Directions stink. It does have the feature I wanted (HDMI arc) so I tried it. It's a weak product overall but I'm keeping it because it is an acceptable inexpensive way to listen to my TV over some extra Klipsch speakers I have. If you want great sound....Pass on this

Just installed this and very please the HDMI ARC connector works. Puts out nice sound. Haven't check-out all the features, but it works and easy to set-up. Pyle could learn something from SMSL.

I bought this for inexpensive solution to add 2.0 stereo to a LG tv. It sounds good and the hdmi works great. ***Update*** HDMI gave up the ghost .

Insgesamt ein sehr guter Verstärker. Die Qualität ist ebenfalls in Ordnung. Bemerkenswert ist die mögliche Feinabstimmung der Kanäle zwischen SUB und normale LS. So kann mit den verschiedensten LS ein guter Sound erziehlt werden. Benutze es als PC-Soundsystem, so kann ich meine alte LS und SUB weiter benützen, die Verbindung über BT ist bisher tadellos. Lediglich ein An- bzw. Abmeldesound beim einschalten oder ausschalten des PC ist sehr störend: je nach eingestellte Lautstärke erschreckt man ein bischen: ein Da-Dong kommt aus den LS heraus. Konnte es noch nicht abstellen. Liegt wohl am BT. Also einschalten und gleich auf mute stellen.
