Great Muzzle for any Dog, especially Great Danes
We needed a muzzle for our 2 Male Great Danes that are 2 year old brothers and are nervous around new people and new situations since they are rescues that were not socialized properly and were abused. We wanted to ensure that when going to the Vet for a check up that no one would get bit. We had tried another muzzle the vet let us borrow that had a belt buckle like closure but that took too long to close and our one dog would go nuts and we could never get it on him. So I knew I was looking for something that had a one click closure option. I read through a lot of reviews and once I came upon this product I saw how many great reviews it got, so we gave it a try and have been very happy with it for both dogs. The one click closure works quickly and solved the problem we had before. This product comes with an extra security strap that runs from the nose to the head to ensure the dog can not pull the muzzle off with their paws or by rubbing it on the ground. I love this extra sense of security. It also has a loop on the bottom where the collar could run through it to ensure the dog could not pull it off that way either, but we have not had a need to use that option. I love how the dog has plenty of openings to breathe easily while wearing it and how they can easily be fed treats through it and could drink if needed with it on. Very well made design all around and a quality product. Our Great Danes are both Males and one weighs 133 and the other weighs 139. We bought Size 6 for both of them and it fits both of them great and they still have plenty of room between the end of muzzle and their nose. We did lots of treat training for 2 weeks with the muzzles before attempting to actually have them wear them. Meaning the first day we just let them sniff the muzzles and then they got a treat. Then for 1 week we would hold a treat at the end of the muzzle and the only way the dog could get the treat was to put their nose in the muzzle and get it. Then the next week we would still hold the treat at the end of the muzzle, but the difference was that we would not immediately release the treat like before. We would purposely hold the treat tighter so that the dog had to work harder to get the treat and that way they would be in the muzzle for about 3-5 seconds, just to get them used to the feeling more. Then at the 2 week mark, while still giving them a treat through it, we closed it. At first they both tried to paw and rub to get it off but we immediately said lets go for a walk and they were so distracted and excited about that that they barely messed with them after that. Then when we went on a walk a few days later they had no issues with putting them on and they only tried to mess with them once and then stopped after that while on walk. Would highly recommend this product.

Perfect Muzzle
This muzzle is exactly what I was looking for. These are hard to find in stores. The Velcro ones come off so easily. While my dog tried repeatedly to get this one off, it was very secure without being too tight.

the standard
this is a very good muzzle, especially for the price point. I put off buying one for ages, put off by it being rubber... "plastic has to be better than rubber," I told myself- whatever the strength/consistency of the rubber- and kept my dog's plastic muzzle while looking for a local wire one (so I'd be able to try it on my dog before making such an investment). after being unable to find a wire one, someone at my local pet store brought up the Baskerville muzzle again. I decided to try it after all, because the plastic basket muzzle we had wasn't ideal for giving treats, which is an essential part of the counter conditioning I'm doing with my dog and her reactivity. the Baskerville muzzle is made with a hole at an angle down from the dog's bottom teeth. my dog often tries to take treats right in front of her nose, which is slightly more difficult because the holes there are different, but with some practice, she's much better at it than she was at first. treating with a muzzle is never going to be easy, but an added benefit of this muzzle is that i don't even have to treat from my hand; i can toss the treat on the ground and my dog can still get it. the size 3 muzzle is roughly the right size for my dog- a bit on the big side. size 2 is too small. due to the straps/padding that go on the underside of her neck and the length of her lower jaw, the muzzle pointed up at a good 60-degree angle when she wore it. it looked very uncomfortable and got in her line of sight, sooo... I cut the lower straps. good idea? bad idea? it's more comfortable for her now, so /shrug. whatever works the security of a muzzle is necessary to take into account, considering that many dog owners need muzzles for managing aggression. this is probably one of the muzzles capable of the highest level of safety, given its optional head strap and the collar attachment loop. using all of the safety options, a dog is gonna have a tough time getting this off. however, there is no muzzle in existence that a dog CANNOT get off if he is determined to get it off. "my dog got this off and ate it in three minutes/while I was gone/while I wasn't looking"- 99% of reviewers who say this about any muzzle have not conditioned their dog to tolerate a muzzle. put a muzzle on a dog who's not muzzle trained and he's going to paw at it, roll around, rub his face on nearby objects- anything to get it off. if someone were to put duct tape on your mouth, you'd do something similar. if your dog needs to wear a muzzle for any amount of time and you won't be able to actively keep him from trying to get the muzzle off, you NEED to muzzle train him before muzzling him. this means getting him to associate the muzzle with good things (toys, treats, belly rubs), THEN bit by bit starting to put the muzzle on. for a single second at first, then five, then ten, and so on until your dog is absolutely comfortable having the muzzle on his face. this is the only way for all these safety measures to work 100%. a muzzle, like any other tool, requires training before it can effectively be used. in closing- I wish that there were perhaps some other size options, more overlap maybe? so the size 3 wouldn't be too large for my dog, and that the padded straps had some method of adjustment, but other than that, I really like this muzzle. I absolutely recommend it to people who desire to muzzle train their dogs, for any reason.

Safe!!
I like these. Bought 2. I like that it’s good quality. Feels durable. It’s safe it won’t just slip. It’s adjustable and helps them breath. Mine is a mouth breather so this is great. Plus you can give them treats while training

I purchased the Baskerville Ultra Dog Muzzle, Size 5 for my German Shepherd (he is just over one year old), I am really satisfied with it, it is slightly big but he still hasn't reach his full adult size so once he does, it will be just perfect! Even though he still has some room to grow, it fits him and made things easier when I took him to the vet! I also love that he can eat and drink while having it on and it doesn't hurt him at all. It also doesn't hurt that it is cheaper through this seller than in the shops!
