I love my ROG Ally, but the biggest downside is that it only has one USB C port. If you want to keep it plugged in to play, you need a dock if you want to plug anything else in. Powered dongles with HDMI out are common, but I have a portable monitor (Asus XG17A) that works best over a USB C connection. It can't be any USB-C, though, it has to be Displayport out. Some docks that have a USB C port only do data transfer. You can get a Thunderbolt dock (I have one) and that does work, but they are expensive and bulky.I recently got a pair of Rokid AR glasses to try out with my Ally. I found out I could only use the glasses while the Ally was on battery - not good for gaming power and definitely not good for longevity. I saw that Rokid made a hub, but it only passes through 10W or so, just enough to keep a phone going. That search led me to this dongle, though, and it is a gamechanger.This allows up to 65W of power passthrough, and it really does - the ROG will run in 30W Turbo mode (which requires a full 65W). I've seen some dongles claim 65W, but it was really 60W to the device with 5W for the USB ports, which meant the ROG wasn't getting into full Turbo mode. I tried another larger portable monitor, but it would only let me set the brightness to 50% before it shut off, so the power delivered to the monitor is a bit limited. The Asus monitor has a battery and while it didn't drain during usage, it probably helped keep it going. So, I would recommend a portable monitor with a battery for best results, but still the fact that this dongle let's me use a portable monitor is fantastic. It definitely does what it says it can with AR glasses (Rokids were fine), and it can even power a portable USB C monitor. Definitely recommend.

From just looking at this Hibloks adapter you don’t get the slightest inkling of how much easier it makes AR gaming with smart glasses. The aluminium case is simple and strong enough to keep the sensitive workings safe.This case is beautifully made, and is very small and lightweight. To me that presents a minor problem. It would benefit from having some means of securing it to the desktop or a handy surface, to stop it sliding about.£36.99 is a small price to pay for the convenience of having this Hibloks AR Smart Glasses Adapter.

EDIT: February 2024.This was great while it worked, but I've only had it a few weeks, never subjected it to any strain or even moved around with it, and the connection to the glasses has become so glitchy that I can't use it anymore without the glasses constantly going static or entirely disconnecting. I've confirmed that using the same cable from the glasses directly works fine - and tried other devices, and they're fine. This would have been a great product but it died way, way too soon.Original review:I bought (and returned) about a million USB-C PD dongles and hubs looking for one that would reliably allow me to charge my phone or deck at the same time I use XReal Air glasses. This one is the cheapest one I could find that actually works for the purpose, simply and reliably.
