Taken at Dusk: A Shadow Falls Novel (Audio Download): C. C. Hunter, Katie Schorr, Macmillan Audio: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Review - Taken at Dusk is a brilliant third book in this series, Kylie has finally made a choice of which boy to date and by the end of the book we have a name as to what she is, although we aren't given an explanation of what exactly this means. This I hope will be explained in the next book. This book keeps up the pace of action and there's never a dull moment which can occur in some third books, but certainly not this one. The main characters are developed more, especially Perry, and a new character is introduced. We also get to enjoy the complicated relationship between Holiday and Burnett develop a bit more, I really hope they end up together. All in all an action packed third installement which i enjoyed just as much as the first two, so if you enjoyed those you'll love this one too. I can't wait for book four now! Review: Another Page Turner - Number 3 in the series of the Shadow Falls novels and just as good as the first one. I usually find most books as they progress through a series lose their appeal but not this one. The characters have continued to evolve, each strong in their own right. I couldn't put this book down and was actually disappointed when I read the last page, turning it hoping to find more. If you haven't read this series before now is the time to get started!

Good, but not the best in the series
***This is book 3, there will be spoilers for the first 2*** A[...] Falls how I've missed you. I read books 1 and 2 in quick succession, but decided to wait a little before entering the world again. Taken at Dusk drew me straight back in. We are still in that first summer (how long are summers over in the US?!) and camp is preparing to be turned in to a school. Kylie still doesn't know what she is, and is no closer. She's shown traits from liking blood to her embarrassing growth spirt courtesy of the werewolf moon cycle. She's healed Sara, and Sara now wants to know whats going on..... There's also the matter of a new ghost - Jane Doe (of course)- who has a massive scar all down her head, no pattern at all - not even a human one - and amnesia. But Jane Doe has a message - someone lives and someone dies. Helpful. So once again the race is on for Kylie to find out what the message means, who she is, WHAT she is, and who Jane is - does it all link together? Oh and don't forget the added boy drama. Again. Taken at dusk was a little same-same for me. There was little new in it, compared to the first two. I still enjoyed it, but expected more. The main issue for me is the time scale, we are expected to believe that Kylie has gone from average joe/jane to some super-freak, accepted it, defeated various enemies, coped with ghost whispering and falling in love with 2 boys, in a matter of weeks? Oh and is still standing, not hiding in a corner somewhere? Nah its not believable (and this is coming from a girl that has no problem with the paranormal aspects of the book). Then there's the camp, where on this planet does a plan get put into place and move at this pace? Oh lets make summer camp into a school, lets do it in a week or so. Nope. Not buying that one either. I'd preferred it to have already been a school, with a summer camp attached, and then we could spread Kylie's adventures out a bit, give her some breathing room. Those aren't major bugs, but they irritated me a little. No this time it was the Lucas/Derek thing that really ruined the book for me. Derek walked away last book, why drag him back in, for the sake of of a love triangle? Its frustrating and annoying, plus I don't like derek so would rather he went away. Kylie is a little more annoying in this one, she's getting to be a teen who doesn't listen, Holiday tells her this ghost is dangerous, but she ignores her and follows her heart - because thats worked out so well previously. The whole Holiday and Burnett thing is getting a little too strung out too. We do finally get to find out what Kylie is, but its in the last page. The LAST page and all we get is a name, no explanation. ARRRRRH. But if any other readers like me have been paying attention, you'll probably have guessed along the right lines away, I've no idea why it took so long for the camp to work out. ****spoiler**** It was obvious from the start that she was mimicking/absorbing others powers around her, and thats why she doesn't fit into any one role. I've been yelling this at the book since day 1! ***spoiler over*** Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book, even despite my moans above! It was everything a shadows fall novel promises, paranormal fun, with a bit of a dark twist and always ending on a cliff hanger. Jane Doe's story was good, and I only just worked it out before Kylie did, plus there is the added twists that her story will bring into future books. Over all a good installment in a great series, not the best, but I'm hoping for a lot more from books 4 and 5 - now that she knows what she is, Kylie can start to deal with it. Hopefully.

Great story
This is the third book in the series and just as good as the first two. The characters are great and the story line a good mixture of romance and adventure, as each book has finished I have clicked to get the next book straight away anxious to continue to read more. Would recommend this set of books if you liked Twilight saga and The Mortal Instruments.

Highly recommended
Loved this series and was sad when they ended. I read them on holiday and it was a good job because I struggled to put them down. The writer developed the characters well and you felt the emotion through her writing. There was plenty of action and a simmering romance. In fact at one point in one of the books I cried. However there is a happy ending. A good read for all ages. Highly recommended

I love supernatural books and I had been looking for a new series to read since I basically read all the other series I had started and I stumbled across this series by chance. It has everything supernaturals, romance and enemies. Its definately worth a read if you love supernatural books like me!

Gripping
Another gripping part of Kylie Galen' s ever evolving story. Taken at Dusk is probably my favourite so far and kept me reading into the wee small hours. Gasps, tears and laughter - this series has them all. Can't wait to start reading the next book to find out what happens next

I really liked the first two books in this series, Born at Midnight and Awake at Dawn, but Taken at Dusk hit all the right chords. I absolutely loved it and would have picked up the next book immediately if I had had it on hand. Alas, I must wait, but while I do, I'm going to tell you about all the things that made Taken at Dusk such a great read. This series just keeps getting better and better. I'm looking forward to seeing where it will go next. Kylie continues to intrigue me as she discovers more and more about herself. I especially admire her determination to do right by the ghosts who seek her help. Her interactions with Miranda and Della run the gamut from easy jokes to heartfelt conversations, all of which provide hilarity and touching moments. Her moments with Lucas are, as always, quite intense, though I would love if she would just pick one guy already. I'm a wee bit impatient, you see. Also, as I learn more about Kylie's past, I feel for her. I am not afraid to admit that I was in tears by the end of the book. That's right. I cried. Since the book takes place in the same setting as the first two books in the series, there's not much I can say to build upon that aspect. However, I will say that the writing in Taken at Dusk was, simply put, awesome. The story built up very well and contained just the right amount of twists and turns. I've already mentioned the ending that made me cry. It is but one of several poignant moments throughout the book. I'm very much at risk of going all fangirly over this series. I can barely imagine how it can get any better than Taken at Dusk, but I am definitely open to surprises. As Kylie's story progresses, I am looking forward to finding out the entirety of her past. C.C. Hunter hasn't left me wanting yet when it comes to her stories. What I am waiting for is the next book, Whispers at Moonrise, but I have the feeling that it's well worth it.
