Having a couple sloping lawns at my property, I needed a tool to remove the moses that had grown through the grass and made it very difficult under foot. After much research I decided on purchasing this hatching tool. It's of a good weight and has a quality build. Others looked too flimsy and cheap. Highly recommend. I removed several barrels full of moss from the area. Really looking forward to next year now to see how well the grass grows back. The handle comes in several parts and all screw together. Perfect if you are shorter or quite tall like me. I found using the tool quite therapeutic. Just raked it back and forth. Like combing your grass. But removing moss and thatch. Excellent purchase

Good, solid and effective. You need to work out how to use it that suits you and the lawn, and does a good job.

Strong rake. Easy to put together. Good size and does the job. Straight forward to use.

Solid construction. Easy to assemble and worked really well. Like that the angle of the head can be adjusted. Really good value.

I don't have room for an electric Scarifier in fact I gave a Bosch one away and regrated it ever since. I thought just maybe, but ~£40 for a rake? It had better be a bloody good rake and it is! This thing is AMAZING, probably one of the best forty-quids I ever spent. Seriously if you want to breath life into a tired lawn and want something you can pack away till next year this thing is the daddy. I'm sure I can find an excuse to use it again on something non-grass related before next year.

Very effective at removing thatch and moss from the lawn once the rake head is set at the correct angle. Only minor issue is that the rake handle sections occasionally come loose and have to be tightened up. Overall, a great purchase.

We purchased this to remove weeds and dead grass to try and salvage our lawn. It is heavy duty and large product sturdy enough to manage large areas in a short period of time. It managed to pull off a lot of the dead grass and dried weeds with ease. It’s left a perfect foundation for topsoil and new grass seeds. This tool has essentially saved me from completely replacing my lawn.

Tricky one this - I can see what they're trying to do (produce the ultimate heavy-duty thatch rake) and having gone through two B---dog rakes taking thatch off cut long grass in a meadow I applaud that. In theory they've succeeded, it's certainly heavy duty, well made, the adjustable head angle works fine and the tines grab aggressively at matted grass. However, in practice things weren't so good - pulling thick grass and scarifying inevitably brings soil too and this has to have somewhere to go otherwise things quickly get clogged, which is exactly what happens. In my opinion the tines are too closely spaced, especially in the centre, and this combined with the fat, double shaft bar and the second row of tines above it means the considerable amount of stuff you pick up has no escape - it also increases the weight of an already quite heavy rake. I found it exhausting and frustrating to use, not because of the raking bit but because of constantly having to stop and declog the head. One thing I would add to be fair, it might well perform better in summer when grass and especially soil are dry but de-thatching is maintenance work often done in spring or autumn - when I took it out of the box I thought 5 star, in use it was 2 at most, so I've given it 3 in the hope it works better in different conditions.

Love this rake, does an amazing job.

I looked at what the “big box” stores offered in value and price then at Amazon. I purchased this Walensee Thatch Rake, 15-Inch Lawn Thatching Rake after reading the reviews and photos. Let me tell you, this rake absolutely does the job. And at the same time gives you a workout. The handle is plenty long so you don’t have to continually bend over. Putting it together is a breeze-like 7 minutes. You’ll need to practice with the angles and stroke, once you do-blastoff. There will be a difference in Saint Augustine and Bermuda grass. You can find several minute or so YouTube videos. The photos from other buyers are correct. I’ve already filled up a 96-gallon “green” recycler grass can. My grass thatch is so bad, the grass grows on the brown dead thatch. My only recommendation is the width of Walensee Thatch Rake, 15-Inch Lawn Thatching Rake. I wish instead of 15-inch width that a 20 or better yet a 24 inch model was offered.
