Functional, durable, EXACTLY what I was looking for!
Ruffwear products came highly recommended to me, and though I initially balked at the price, I have to say spending the extra money on a high quality pack was worth it! I got a size small for my 30lb Heeler. It fits him like a glove. There is ample padding and he seems to be very comfortable in it. The material is thick and high quality, so I have zero worries about it getting destroyed on our hikes. The handle on the back of it is sturdy enough that I can lift him up if he ever needs assistance. The pockets themselves have enough storage space for anything we could ever need (though I don’t load him up too heavy because of his size). Also the aqua color is very lovely and stands out so I can see him easily when he is off leash. I’m super impressed with this pack and looking forward to our many adventures in it! I would even get other products from Ruffwear after buying this.

Yes! Probably the most perfect item on Amazon!
There are times you order something on Amazon and you think, "Yes!" This is one of those moments. I have a 106# Golden Doodle named Murphy. He is a service dog trained by K9S for Warriors and is by far the best dog, buddy, and service animal I have ever had. I should disclose he my first service animal as well. Hes five years old and loves to be wherever I am. Most of the time this isn't an issue. However, there are times in FL I have water bowls, booties, sunblock for his nose, snacks, etc. Yes...he's spoiled! Anyway...don't judge me...Murphy usually where's his "Service Animal" vest when he's working, but there are times I need him to carry his ####. I have ordered, returned, or ordered and destroyed similar packs. IF THEY FIT! I finally gave up until this guy showed up in my recommended. I was a little taken back by the $70 price tag, but being older I realize to get more or better its going to cost you. It sat in my "Save for later" for a few months. Then we decided to move to the UK this coming fall. Murphy would need booties, raincoat, and all his other Gucci stuff. Plus, he's a big dog and carry a few things of mine to. Hello! Service animal! I pulled the trigger and it took a few days to arrive. I should have done a video for unboxing so you could see and hear my response. Seriously, its the Patagonia or Mountain Hardware of K9 back packs. The pouches are huge, but not too big as to overload Murphy. The harness and design is something like Petzl would make. Murphy is my best friend next to my wife of 31 years. I never want him to get hurt or suffer. This pack was designed for comfort. It was like they had Dr. Doolittle interviewing dogs after a beta test. It fits perfect and can easily be adjusted. Not one buckle or clip touches skin or fur. In fact, where there may be friction the added a comfort pad. The stitching and materials are high grade! The first and/or second outing with Murphy he took to it easily. Took him a few minutes to understand he's a bit wider than usual, but he got it quickly. After a while he had that, "Look at me...that's right...I'm a stud" walk. Even loaded it barely fatigued him. Usually I am ultra critical of merchandise like this. Honestly right now this thing is a 9.75/10. The only .25 criticism if for lack of colors. That could just be an Amazon thing. Oh, the sizing is pretty accurate also. Murphy landed right inside the zone of XL and it would probably fit a Great Dane. Well done. 👏Bravo

Nice and tough with lots of storage!
We looked at a LOT of dog packs. I even ordered one of the more "cost effective" brands as it seemed a good fit for breathability, only to find it had far too little storage space. This pack has the most storage space out of everything I found. We actually want to backpack with our dog. Which means she needs to be able to carry all her own gear. This pack has ample room for water bottles, several days worth of food, a ball, a bowl, etc. It is tough canvas and fits well, nice and sturdy. It has the most storage space of all the packs I looked at by far. We have not yet taken it out for an actual spin, but it does fit our 55lb shepherd mix pretty well. She is 29" in the chest and we ordered a medium and had to tighten quite a bit it for it to fit snuggly with room for chest expansion when she breathes. I considered whether we should have gone a size down but husband said he would then be worried about it being too tight and not offer enough breathing room. My only concern, and maybe this is a factor of it being so sturdy with the canvas, but it isn't very breathable. This is the ONLY reason I lowered the comfort rating on it. The other packs I looked at had more mesh and thinner material running along the back. This pack does not. If you have a black dog, like we do, this might be tough in the overheating department. However, again, we haven't actually taken it on a trip yet so I am not sure how much of a factor the breathability of the material will even be yet. Otherwise I'd say it was well worth the money for the storage space alone! We are super excited to use it and our girl loves it.

well-made, padded
Got a Small according to product measurements suggestion. The straps are wide but lengths are adjustable to his size. The material is a sturdy canvas-like, stiff material and the "saddle bags" are really roomy and cove most of the sides of his body. I was going to return it, but I altered them from the inside to be smaller alongside his body, which I feel also makes my dog more exposed to air for cooling. Looks like it will hold up to handwashing better than the one I'm currently using.

Ideal for large dogs
This saddle-pack was purchased for a broad chested 85 lb dog (largest size) and I am glad to share that it fit with ease. the tightening straps allowed for secure and stable fit. The saddle material is high quality, tear resistant, and durable. I have refrained from attaching a leash to the saddle however as the power of an 85 pound dog would most likely reveal it as the achilles heal of and otherwise high quality product.

It’s a win for Win (Winchester - 90 lb chocolate lab)
I really love this color (river rock) we bought Win the front range harness, the Roamer lock hands free leash and this front range day pack harness for our hiking trips.. Win was not to sure about this day pack at first but once the leash was attached and we got outside he understood the assignment and took to it easily. We walked for a bit down the road and he was good to go. Harness is well made with study hardware for leash attachment and to attach accessories (tags/lights/gps). Pockets good size but we will have to work on his abilities before we pack them very much. Easy enough on adjusting for humans hands but I have no worries that dog movement will have any impact on “self adjusting”. Overall both Win and I are very pleased with this doggy day pack and look forward to using it on our upcoming adventures!

I love it, Gwen is not thrilled...
I love it. Gwen is still considering legal action. (Keep reading... Gwen is my dog) I bought this pack after trying a couple different packs, and this was the clear winner for fit, comfort, size and style. Well… for me, anyway. Gwen remains deeply suspicious of the concept of employment and wearing anything but her fur coat. We’re planning to use it for hiking and backpacking so she can carry her own food and supplies instead of making me haul her stuff up the side of a mountain like her own personal sherpa. The pack feels really well made, fits securely, and doesn’t seem bulky or awkward on her. It's also pretty adjustable, so getting a snug fit without turning her into a stuffed sausage was easy. We started with the medium and swapped for the large/XL, which turned out to be a much better fit for her. Bonus points for massive pockets. What girl doesn’t love pockets for her treats and toys? Most importantly: this dog shook herself approximately 27 times during our 1/4 mile test walk trying to launch the pack into another dimension, and it never budged once. Will that change under load? Maybe. Is it still a win? Yes. 10/10 according to the human carrying less gear. 0/10 according to the unionized German Shepherd.
