RP has been making lubricants for $1,000,000+ industrial transmissions for years, and it shows.
Used this to bring new life to a 2003 Mitsubishi eclipse auto (117xxx miles) that had been sitting for about a year, project ongoing... This thing was suffering from some serious grandpa syndrome, and a bad case of neglect. Shifting was rough and some gears would not fully engage with clutches slipping, I thought this transmission would need an immediate rebuild. I figured $60 is worth a try over a $1500 rebuild. Did a hot drain-and-fill with the case of 6 quarts, and the old fluid looked like coffee. The first test drive showed immediate results even in the parking lot, shifting into reverse just glided into gear, at first I thought it didn't engage. The test drive yielded smooth shifting, and 300 miles later it keeps getting better. Sport mode chirped the original tires from first to second, and every shift over half throttle is a quick responsive positive pull. It still needs time to work in, and I have another drain-and-fill planned at 500 miles to make it just over 80% new fluid, but I'll wait for the top-notch detergents to clean more garbage out before the drop.I also used RP 5w-30HMX (high mileage) and RP's oil filter for the engine, it runs smoother and quieter, and now I can hear valve lash out of adjustment, which is a good sign you're running a good oil, easy fix when I replace the valve cover gasket.UPDATE: FEB 2017Car is at 138,000 miles and still haven't done the second drain and fill, transmission still shifts better than some new cars. I did however start using RP's filter and 5w-30 HMX in the engine and picked up 3-4mpg overall, and freed a stuck lifter. Car is still going strong according to a friend I just sold it to.

Highly Recommended
I did a partial transmission fluid change using Royal Purple Max ATF on my 2011 WK2 with a 3.6 liter Pentastar engine and the 5-speed transmission. My Jeep has well over 230,000 miles.Since it's cold in Michigan and I wasn't interested in staying outside too long, I used a suction tool to remove the fluid in the transmission pan, which was equal to around 3.75 quarts of fluid. I then replaced that with 3 quarts of Royal Purple Max ATF, 1 bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix, and 1 shot of Tribotex Transmission treatment.I couldn't be happier with the results. Not only has the slip been eliminated, but the vibrations that used to be part of every acceleration were dampened down to almost nothing. (The old 5 speeds that were in Grand Cherokees of the WK2 series had a tendency to vibrate under light acceleration.) I find that the potholes create more noise the transmission does. I also noted that the transmission temperatures are consistently lower than before - they rarely exceed 170 degrees Fahrenheit. It's been around 2 weeks since the fluid change, and there were plenty of spirited test-drives. I say this was a successful partial-fluid change. I'd certainly know if it weren't.I attribute these results to Royal Purple's Max ATF. But I also credit TriboTex for its restorative properties, and Lucas Transmission Fix for just being another fine Lucas product. All in all, I highly recommend Royal Purple Max ATF. I also recommend the other products mentioned in this review.

Good Stuff
Who is kidding who. I think it is impossible to tell the difference, at least in the short term. I am going by my loyalty to Royal Purple in general. Their motor oil is group 5 and at least at one time there was only one other brand, Red Line, and I had a very bad experience with Red Line's customer experience and ruined a motorcycle engine following Red Line's advice. That leaves in my mind Royal Purple motor oil as the best there is. The ATF I assume surely follows, but without combustion contamination, I cannot say how much difference; and I had no transmission problems before I started using it. Whatever it is, I think you cannot go wrong with Royal Purple products.

The best
I put this fluid in my 2004 Hyundai Tiburon against the recommendation of AAMCO transmission service. I was looking at servicing my transmission and asked if they would flush this fluid into my system. The guy I talked to tried to tell me that this was a "trick" fluid and that my car would shift very hard and it was not recommended for my car.I went against his word based on the reviews of amazon, recommendations by royal purple, and my own intuition based on product specifications. After changing my fluid to Royal Purple I can say that this has made a phenomenal difference in my car's shifting. My car was not as smooth as it is now when I bought it new 95,000 miles ago. I without a doubt would put it in my car again and will be changing in another 4 quarters in the next 30,000 miles. My car has always been a little choppy shifting since it is only a 4 speed, but with royal purple I can't even feel it shift. To think that AAMCO told me it would make my car shift hard infuriates me.I highly recommend this fluid for your vehicle if it meets specifications.Update:For anyone wondering, my transmission is still functioning perfectly fine. I haven't seen any decrease in shifting since March. Everything is just as good as when I wrote the review. I took a peak at my fluid a few days ago and it still looks and smells perfect. I still highly recommend it.Update #2:Still rolling around with this fluid in. It's been over a year and a half and I drive a lot. The older my car gets the harder I am on it which is exactly what I shouldn't be doing, but it's not a baby anymore. Still 0 problems even when dropping from 7k rpm. I'm confident my car is going to last forever with RP.
