You Choose: Can You Survive Collection [Rachael Hanel] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. You Choose: Can You Survive Collection Review: Great for 3rd and 4th grade! - I am the Elementary Librarian at a small, private school. I read to every class for about 15-20 minutes and like to bring in books that we do not have on our shelves. Third and fourth grade have some difficulty remaining engaged with read-alouds, so this year I wanted to find books that would engage them. The I Survived series is one of the most loaned books in most libraries around the nation right now, so this seemed to fit that overall theme. The kids LOVED this book! They love solving mysteries and choose where stories should go, this appeased all of their interested keeping them engaged. I will rotate this every couple of years for as long as I can because it is great! Review: Doesn’t get boring - My son is obsessed with the titanic and loves the choose your path books because he can reread them over and over again without it getting boring.

So much fun!
I had been looking for these for my son. He loves anything Titanic and enjoys reading even though he sometimes struggles. He enjoys that he can read the same book but with changes based on his choices. Being able to re- read parts of the book like this helps to reinforce his reading skills but keeps him interested as well. When it arrived, I didn't realize at first that all 3 books are in one. I thought it was a cover to 3 books individually in like a box set. The fact it isn't that wasn't a concern for me; just a heads up since I missed that piece of information initially.

Middle schooler approved
My child is in the 6th grade. I bought this for homeschool reading. This did not disappoint! Even though I bought it for school, she read it for fun. Getting to choose which direction to go was awesome for her, and a neat way to have a child be interactive with the story. Would definitely recommend.

It was a hit!
I bought this book to read with my middle school students at the end of the year. Classes chose together and got points for our competition when they survived. It was a hit! Even better, when my own son came to hang out with me after school, he asked whether that was MY book because he wanted to borrow it. Although he is dyslexic and prefers to listen to audio books, he has been reading this book enough to select multiple endings and discuss them with me.

My Son is really enjoying the stories and all the possible endings, it's a great book especially for encouraging boys like my son that don't like reading or have a bit of difficulty with reading . I love that it's a living book and It's super cool with survival facts and info

Our 14-year-old received this for Christmas/BookFlood (an Icelandic tradition of book-giving on Christmas Eve) and is really enjoying. There are only 9 storylines, but what makes it interesting is the historical accuracy. (For example, whether you choose to run to port or starboard side of the ship will change your survival outcome based on what actually happened on the Titanic and who was loading each lifeboat. As a historian, I found this fascinating.) Kids learn as they play, and can choose to play as one of three characters. There aren't that many choices, but the choices are compelling and ethically complex, the history is fascination, and the illustrations are simply gorgeous. Educational as well as fun.

Bought for my nephew as a Christmas gift. He’s not a reader, but he liked this book. I loved choose your own adventures as a kid and I believe they sparked my interest in reading. I think that’s what will happen with my nephew as he’s already asking for more books like this!

Stories are fun and my 10 year old enjoyed re-reading and choosing a different ending. Stories are a bit short so maybe better for younger readers depending on reading level (my daughter is an avid reader).
