I was looking for a cordless rotary tool as an alternative to my mains-powered rotary tool. This is DEPSTECH's upgraded 2.5Ah 12V model over their previous 8v offering, now with a more powerful battery (charged via USB-C, cable supplied is 1m USB-C to USB-C) and a whopping 35000rpm top speed, with plenty of power for cutting and cleaning metal. Opening the box, I was pleased to see a really nice zip-up box where everything has its place, instead of an ugly plastic one-size-fits-all box that are often used. Included are a range of accessories for cutting, sanding, polishing and drilling, all kept safe in a small plastic box. The inclusion of a cutting shield is very welcome - keeping sparks out of the way! There is also a "cutting guide" housing but I've not had need to use it yet. The speed is set by two buttons next to a large screen which displays the speed setting (1-5) and the %age of battery charge. There are five speed settings: 1=5000rpm, 2=12500rpm, 3=20000rpm, 4=27500rpm, 5=35000rpm enough to cover most requirements. My one criticism is that I'd like a variable speed control or at least some more steps - but that's just my personal opinion. The last used speed setting is remembered. In use, it's not excessively heavy to hold (well-spec'd batteries aren't particularly light) although some may find it tiring if used for long periods, but it is fairly well balanced in the hand, and there is a handy hanging loop that can be flipped out for hanging from a bench hook saving it from being knocked onto the floor. Accessories are fitted using a standard collet collar system. A push button at the head of the tool is pushed down to lock the spindle, accessories are then inserted into the collet. The collet head is then tightened with the supplied spanner. This DEPSTECH rotary tool is a really good alternative to the brand leader (of which costs twice as much), and has a higher top speed. I'll be finding plenty of uses for it around the house!

Wanted a tool like this for a while but found it hard to justify the cost for something that would be used occasionally. However, I've been doing a lot of DIY and also making items to sell in my spare time. So decided to take the plunge. I am delighted with it so far and already carved a sign and sanded some tricky wood bits. I'm sure I'll get better with a bit of practice. It will be worth investing in some engraving tools. The unit is very robust, possibly a bit on the heavy side but loads of power. The only negative is the battery life, but that's what chargers are for. It will come in handy for other jobs so definitely would recommend.

This mini cordless drill that my son bought for me is mainly used for my model boat building it was the best item that I have ever received and used in years. Its fits well in your hand and with the variable speed settings makes it great for what I use it for. My son said the price was quite reasonable too. If anyone's thinking of buying a mini cordless drill this is the one you should consider buying.

Really impressed with this. Yes there is a bit of a whine when operating but you forget about it after a while. Sturdy, easy to use, good battery life and nice extras with it. Have brought many other attachments for it from sanding, circular saw blades to buffing pads and all fit fine.

I have used this alot and so far it has proved to have been a much better buy than my failed, very well known brand muti tool which was more than twice the price and was corded! It's a good workable size and weight The battery lasts well and charges pretty quickly. The case it comes with is strong and well made. There not a lot of accessories but enough to get started.I'm really pleased with this purchase.

Great product and ideal for small tasks

Well made, nice rubber feel, fairly bulky and quiet (sounds like I'm reviewing an item my wife uses). The lcd screen is clear and the variable speed is impressive. I'm so pleased it fits my Dremel attachments such as the router base as it has the same size screw thread. Comes with a decent carry case although I'll never use that. My mains powered Dremel is still going strong after 40 years of use but I needed a cordless multi tool. Let's hope it holds up even a third that of my Dremel, I'd be well happy !

Dremel only has 1-2 speed option it wont go any higher. Have only used it twice.

I use this for cleaning the cylinders of brake calipers. Because it is USB rechargeable I can also take this overseas when I am servicing my motorcycles there. It doesn't have the same power as a corded version and the charge lasts about 30-40 minutes. It does take a while to recharge. I usually charge it overnight before I need it and it lasts for all the services I use it for on a motorcycle.
