E-Meet Your New Favorite Cam
I needed a new webcam; I have been using one I purchased with my XP PC many years ago. It did what I needed it to for so long, I never gave a thought about upgrading it. Now, with the need to be online more and Zoom calls and other things, I found my aging camera not to be enough. I watched a bunch of reviews on YouTube and TikTok. I landed on the EMEET SmartCam S800. I am not going to go down the long list of specs. You can look those up yourself. What I will tell you is about my experience now that I have been using this for a few months. The EMEET came well packaged to keep it safe. I can tell you it was pretty much plug and play. They do offer software you can download that gives you added features. What I love is that I do not have to have stadium lights on to be seen. I can have just my normal lights on in the room, and people can see me crystal clear. I also appreciate the built-in privacy screen, which you can just flip on when you’re not using it. I personally have not used it for streaming, but with the quality I have seen thus far, I think it would be great for that. The built-in microphone appears to be pretty good as well. I use another mic, so I cannot tell you at this time how good the mic on the cam itself is. Overall, I would definitely recommend this cam. It’s not going to break the bank to purchase it and give you a quality product.

Decent Camera
So far it is working as supposed. The image is crispy clear and the software helps a lot.

Cheap with good picture quality.
Edit: Looks like the weird connectivity problems on the Mac platform may be related to using low power mode. Once I disabled that, the webcam became very reliable. Bumping the score up to 4 star. Original: This is a fairly nice looking webcam. Easy installation, just plug and play... in theory. Microphone works well enough, though it is a bit tinny sounding. Nothing unexpected there. Picture quality is very acceptable, not as good as using an iPhone as a continuity camera, but... it works without needing apple account signed in so is work friendly. The big problem is when used on a mac, you're likely going to have to unplug the camera and plug it back in. A lot. Between almost every use. I needed something cheap. This was cheap(ish). It does what I need, but boy does it have problems. I'd probably not have bought it if I'd known it was going to be such a pain to use reliably. I definitely can not recommend it for Apple users at least until EMEET pushes a firmware that makes the camera less likely to have serious compatibility and connectivity issues.

It's an excellent USB webcam but not reliable
I have a lot of USB cameras and this is among the best I have for images. The 4k frames are impressive compared to my 2k webcams and the high dynamic range (HDR) capability makes visibility on a nighttime city street excellent. I like the software controls on this over those on a EMEET C950 I bought at the same time (to compare). The C950 is pretty good but this model gives you better control of the camera when shooting and I like that as an amateur photographer. Even comparing the S800 audio versus the C950 ,the S800 is less noisy with better sensitivity as far as I can tell. Although the zoom is digital, zoom is very good compared to digital zoom on other webcams. However, i have purchased 6 of these for for for constant use deployments in four locations and four have failed in about a year. The errors are typically about it continuing to appear as a camera device, synchronization of streamed frames, device configuration. Most look like it's USB interface fail cases rather than the optical device which is a real shame. i'm currently going through replacing them all with another brand. It has a tripod socket on the mount (my C950 doesn't), I have four webcams in constant use and prefer the more secure tripod mount this has. It's hard to argue that if it truly has the Sony 1/2" sensor then that's a well respected industry standard so it only needs a decent lens and the S800 seems pretty good to me optically. Focus quality is good. If I had to make any other complaint it's probably not EMEET's fault but I experience stalls and other performance related problems when I have two 4k cameras on the same USB 3 bus and find they work better when they are each connected to a different USB bus on my PCs. I had one that stopped working entirely showing a flickering static image but when I moved it to another computer and coincidentally used another USB-C cable I found it worked fine so probably the originally supplied USB-C cable failed. But, regardless of those quirk cases, I've now had four of six completely fail as USB video devices in around a year. They get warm when used, sometimes even hot and I use them in windows facing the sun in some cases. I put kitchen foil around the barrel of the camera but not tightly in order to reduce heating from sunlight adding to the normal heat. I compared the audio output of a Logitech HD615 webcam output (older 1080p@30fps, single microphone with noise reduction mono audio) with this EMEET S800 (4k@30fps, 1080p@60fps, two microphones with noise reduction, stereo audio). Looking at the audio spectrum the Logitech has a lot of audio noise that shows up in the ultra-low frequency range (infrasound) whereas this EMEET camera has barely any readable signal in the same range. Both cameras probably don't have microphones capable of detecting infrasound so it's probably electrical noise on the Logitech C615 that isn't seen in this EMEET S800. The audio spectrum on the EMEET S800 looks very nice over time such that it's easier to the EMEET S800 audio output for voice detection than the Logitech C615 audio output. It's a shame two thirds of these that I've purchased just stopped working within a year because the camera image has been good when working.

Love It
I have the S600 and S800. I definitely recommend the S800. The additional zoom is great. I have found the S600 doesn’t always hold focus in the middle. It will auto adjust at times and put me out of focus during podcast recordings. The S800 has been used at least a couple dozen times and it is solid. Color looks good. Focus is great. My Mac recognized it easily. Emeet app is easy to use. 100% would buy again. If all I could afford was the S600, I would buy it again, as well.

Right tool for the job
I was skeptical about spending this much on a webcam, but the eMeet S800 has completely won me over. The image quality is simply phenomenal – the difference between this and my old webcam is night and day. Even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions, the picture remains clear and sharp. Plus, the built-in microphone is surprisingly good. Definitely worth the investment!
