Intricate and fiddly, 8 years is too young in my opinion, wire cutters are required.
This STEM robot building kit a fantastic concept but is aimed in my opinion at the wrong age group. There’s a choice of 12 very distinct models to make so there’s something for everyone, and kids working their way through them all will be entertained for hours at a time.Learning about how solar energy works and robotics is a great idea and a fascinating hands on way to introduce kids to sustainable technologies and green energy. This set will benefit children who are visual or tactile learners and will help develop problem solving skills and logical thinking. It’s aimed at 8 years upwards and I think that’s probably a little young and maybe should be more around 12 years as the instructions are fairly clear but the builds are intricate and can seem overwhelming. Some adult supervision is recommended as wire cutters are needed. The pieces are all well made, and a bit fiddly as they need to be removed from the framework initially. Some parts of the build don’t seem to be a great fit.Wire cutters are the only tool that is suggested in the instructions and I found them necessary and something my grandson needed help with. It’s great fun so far and will bring a good sense of accomplishment for a very reasonable price. It is challenging but a great concept, and I will update this review should we run into any issues.I hope you find my review helpful.

A modern take on model building
The box this 'toy' arrives in gives a slightly cheap impression. Its a blue box with a large sticker applied to the front and back - full of air bubbles. Inside is a good old fashioned set of what looks like hundreds of plastic pieces on a frame. Plus a bag with the electric parts and solar panel, plus all the decals. Its a traditional model building kit with a modern twist. It has a very good (and thick) manual full of diagrams for constructing the various models that the pieces can create. I wouldn't know where to start but I know someone who will! I think this will either fascinate and keep my nephew quite for hours, or it may be the sort of 'toy' that never gets finished. Overall, it seems pretty decent for under £20
