KATSU Tools Self-Centering Doweling Jig Kit – Woodworking Drill Guide for Accurate Dowel Joints, Adjustable Positioning Tool for Thick Timber, Model 105409

So I bought this for creating some (solid) hardwood floating shelves. My preferred brackets are all based on imperial sizes (7/16 holes) - so 11mm drill bits. Some users have rated this 1 star based on the fact it is imperial measurements - even though that is clear from the images - and the metric equivalent drill bits will only be 0.1mm out so it doesn't both me in the slightest - still far more accurate than building my own jig. There are centring lines and holes on the side of the jig that make it very easy to align. I note some users have mentioned having to rebuild the jig as it wasn't centred out of the box - again not an issue for me, perfectly centred and ready to use out of the box.

The quality of this product is excellent ,it did the job prefect every time and the self centring made the whole process so simple. I tried a couple of other products before this one and it just bets them all hands down and is great value for money,can’t praise it enough. I don’t often write reviews but with this product it was a must.

Where to start? When I opened the box I almost giggled and wondered how anyone could send out the item thinking they had done a good job. The guide needed 'tweaking' to get it centred - I guess that's not a big deal. There is a certain amount of 'play' - but that disappears when you clamp up the piece to be drilled. The manufacturing quality is not great. I dismantled it, cleaned threads and greased the threads and sliders in the hope of giving it some longevity. I am a 'hobbyist' - I would not suggest this tool is appropriate for regular use. Nor would I suggest this is a tool my son or grandson would be pleased to inherit in the fullness of time. Anyway, when I had 'fettled' it, I was able to repeatedly drill a 1/4" hole through a piece of wood 1/2" x 1 3/4" and it went straight through - leaving 1/8" each side of the hole. Which is what I wanted to do. So, it's inexpensive but requires fiddling with. For what it cost, I'm ok with it. Note to self: stop buying cheap Chinese cr*p.

Really like this metal self centering doweling jig. It is perfect for drilling and dowelling boards to dowel and glue to laminate together or for making accurate drills for doweling corners, L and T joints. Works as well as the similar tools available that are 3 or more times the price. I am happy and it works as I wanted it to.

Opened the box this thing looked Great it was all I could ask for A self centering dowel gig. Got a peice a wood to try it out didnt fit it would not close fully so looked for somthing thicker I think 20mm and it tightened up real nice Problem was though that when closed it wasnt centered so I tryied it again on another piece of wood same size and still wouldnt center properly say it was out by at least 2 mm not to good realising this was just more chinese rubbish I chucked it in the bin. Points to note the wood you are going to dowel must be thicker than the centering bar which is not so good, It doesnt self center, China make beutifull jigs for lots of things and they look and feel great they Just havent gotten round to making them work. Ps. The 2 leveling bars are also to narrow for the hole they slide in

Excellent dowel jig. sturdy. holds itself in position and was so easy to use. Makes it really easy to do a dual dowel really impressed with this tool.

seems solid and well made. Its a pity there are no metric bushes.

Voor de prijs zeker handig om recht in het midden van een plank te boren voor deuvels. Imperiale maten zijn net wat ruimer dan metrisch dus wel wat speling. Middenstuk heeft ook door enkele schroef ook wat speling. Mis markeringen aan de zijkant om beter te centreren op een gemarkeerde plaats. Per maat zit er maar 1 geleider schroef bij, dus niet mogelijk meerdere gaten te boren zonder mal te verplaatsen. Voor de snelheid, gemak en prijs een aanrader.

… pas super précis mais si vous le mettez toujours du même côté cela fonctionne parfaitement. Percer droit, montage précis. Les diamètres sont en mesure anglaise, mais cela laisse une faible marge pour un perçage en métrique.

Esta plantilla es ideal para entarugar o hacer uniones. La he utilizado para hacer agujeros en el perfil del tablero y puedes olvidarte de que se te vaya la broca a un lado o no te salga perpendicular y lo estropees. Combino esta plantilla junto con la de Wolfcraft, muy buena también para hacer los agujeros en la parte plana, usando como guía el primer tablero con los tarugos colocados. El material de la plantilla es excelente, puro acero y pesada, evidentemente, lo cual no es un problema porque se sujeta al tablero y no necesitas aguatarla con una mano. La recomiendo sin ninguna duda.
