I’m pretty sure one of our showers was built without a p-trap. I purchased this product because it functions like a p-trap in that it keeps some water in it to prevent fumes from coming through the drain pipe into our condo. It installed easily and simply. It’s made of quality materials. No more odor coming from the drain, and the sounds of water flowing down a shared drain pipe have been dramatically reduced. I like this product so much, I purchased a second to have as a backup if ever needed. Highly recommend!

As a contractor this item saved me thousands of dollars by not ripping up flooring to install a ptrap that was not installed by previous owners and it works way better than other products because water creates the best seal for smells! Love this product!

This is a clever, well made device that solves exactly the problem that I have: the installed shower drain does not have a p-trap installed due to slope issues and concrete flooring. And the vertical pipe up from the sewer pipe to the drain hole is about 3". This device slid easily into that space, and the extra rubber space provide a good seal to the 2" pipe walls. The system fills its "trap" with water, creating a mini "p-trap" type seal, so that water flows downward, but smells cannot pass through the standing water inside the trap. Another commenter didn't like that there is standing water in this system: but that's how all p-traps work - there's standing water right under a bathroom sink in the p-trap there (or there should be). As long as this device is used regularly, it should be fine. In fact, for shower and floor drain situations, this seems better than a p-trap because I can remove it and clean it out easily, whereas cleaning a p-trap that was embedded in concrete requires a snake or drain cleaning solvents. Also, this device doesn't seem to slow the speed at which the drain works at all - I have a full flow showerhead and I don't get any additional backup or pooling of water on the shower floor: it flows out just as it did before I installed this device.

These did not work as well as I would have liked, but I do believe that if water pressure is high enough that it might work well.

I just bought a house with a basement bathroom with a shower that was leaking a musty sewer smell out of the drain. Tried to fill the trap with water and that didn’t work so looked for a quick easy solution. Read the mixed reviews on this item but still decided to buy. First of all it’s good quality material. My drain required the extra wide flange that came with it. Dropped it in and put my drain cover back on. Ran some water to fill the trap. Was worried it would not drain and leave me in a puddle while showering but no issues. Left overnight and woke up to the Oder being gone. Works as advertised, easy to install, didn’t affect my drain, and was a simple solution for a frustrating issue.

We were about to tear up the basement shower to put a proper p-trap in the shower floor, and this was my last try for a solution before digging into the concrete. It works! It fits perfectly, slid into place, drains well, and the stink be gone! Excellent quality as well, sturdy stainless steel design. Very happy with this product and would recommend 100%!

This is exactly what we needed so that the missing P-trap in our basement shower can be rectified and sewer gases no longer seep into our bathroom. It's easy to install and causes no problems with regular use. It's high quality metal and fits perfectly.

I had a standing shower that did not have a p trap under the drain. Bathroom smelled because of sewage gas travelling back into the bathroom. This did the trick as it holds enough water to block any smell that P trap is supposed to do. Great buy and I would recommend it.
