Has anyone with complaints about fit tried to cut the board down the middle with a Dremel or tin snips? That has worked for me with similar products.

That's a really good idea.. You could also mount this via. multiple mount holes on a board after words so it could fit any future boards.. if your worry about rigidity : | - | :
