Make up sponges are makeup sponges— I don’t necessarily think some are better than others IMO, but I did like that this set includes a small one, good for undereyes and small concealing jobs. The flat one is also kind of interesting though I’m not sure why a flat one is better than the standard one. The only thing I didn’t love about these sponges was that they had a lingering chemical smell. The brush in this set is completely underwhelming. The shortness of the bristles make it rather hard to use to spread my CC cream and it did in fact leave brush marks which I ultimately had to rub in with my fingers. I primarily like to use my fingers to apply my CC cream as it is and found that my fingers do a far superior job than this brush. The stars in this case are for the sponges, not the brush which I would give zero stars to.

I was looking for a stiff foundation brush to replace my old one that's finally shedding too many bristles to be of any use. I have had a lot of trouble finding a suitable replacement, and gave this one a try. For starters, it's quite short, more like say an eye shadow brush. On the plus side, it's lightweight and easy to hold. The bristles are very short, a little smaller than say an eyelash brush or toothbrush. They are indeed very stiff, so stiff that they don't move. This results in the brush serving more as a spatula. However, I like this! Sometimes I apply too much foundation or CC cream and typically just blot it off with a beauty blender. This tool makes it easier to spread it around and thus not waste product. The bristles are still fine enough not to leave brush marks. So for applying and distributing, it's fine, but for blending, a big nope. A few of the bristles did come off when I was using it, though that stopped after a couple of uses. The mini beauty blender and sponges are fine. Nothing special, but nice to have on hand.

You can do a full face of foundation, contouring, highlighting and blush with this set! I love the brush for precise contouring with ELF beauty wand CONTOUR. I’ve also used it with high-end contour products by MAC, TARTE and Kat Von D. There is an application tool for every powder, cream or liquid in this set. I have mainly high-end products that fall to the top or bottom on the spectrum from TOM FORD, MAC to NATASHA DENONA. As long as you know how to do makeup properly this set will serve you well. If anything in the set fails you, I suggest you try changing the way you use it or try different products. Obviously not every tool will work with every product and they aren’t meant to. If you’re still learning makeup, try googling how to apply creams, powders and liquids with the proper tools.

Of the sponges, my favorite was the smallest one. I use it to blend out concealer and like how the size helps get into small corners. The larger ones work well in blending out foundation. I was not a fan of the brush though. The bristles on the brush are pretty shirt and doesn't actually help spread out foundation well. Definitely not the best brush I have used. Price is on the more expensive side considering the makeup sponges are the more usable part of this set.
