Brilliant little tool
These are brilliant little things. I had my doubts at first, but after trying it I was instantly impressed! It has great magnification and is so easy focus and use. The only thing to be careful of is when using the plastic 'foot' to hold slides, it is quite easy to put too much weight on the scope when looking through it which bends the foot and changes the focus slightly. I find it easier to not use the fold out foot, whereupon it is far more stable. Get one of these and you'll be amazed at the fine detail you see in everything!

Great product for kids
I was apprehensive about buying these because there are so many dodgy reviews and scam products on this site, but I got three for a children’s bug hunt in the local park and they were really useful for the older children to use. The quality was excellent and there are some glass slides with samples to teach them how to focus and zoom in (glass not suitable for younger children). They stood up to the children’s handling over five hours. I now have to carry one every time I go to the park because I foolishly promised. Excellent quality for the price.

Surprisingly fun and educational — but magnification claims are a bit optimistic
I bought this pocket microscope mainly for my child, who is currently interested in bugs, leaves and anything found in the garden. I wanted something more interesting than a magnifying glass but also simple enough for a child to use without frustration. First impressions It’s very small — genuinely pocket-sized — and lighter than I expected. The plastic doesn’t feel premium, but it doesn’t feel fragile either. It came ready to use with batteries already fitted, which was helpful as we could try it immediately. The built-in LED light is actually important. Without it, most objects look too dark to see detail clearly. Ease of use This is where it works well for kids. There’s only: a focus wheel an on/off light switch the viewing eyepiece After a quick demonstration my child could use it alone within 5 minutes. The focus wheel is quite sensitive though — you have to turn it slowly or the image jumps out of focus. What we looked at We tested: • leaf veins • fabric fibres • paper • salt and sugar • skin • a feather The leaf and fabric were the most impressive — you can clearly see structures you wouldn’t normally notice. The magnification claim This is the important bit buyers should know. The advertised 100x–250x magnification is not truly comparable to a lab microscope. You won’t be seeing cells or bacteria. It’s closer to a strong magnifying loupe. However — for a child’s educational toy — it’s actually ideal. High-power microscopes are much harder to focus and children usually lose interest quickly. This one gives instant results. Image quality Sharp in the centre but blurry around the edges. You also need a steady hand — resting it on a table works best. The LED makes a big difference indoors. Outdoors in daylight the image is clearer. Negatives Difficult to hold steady Takes practice to focus No slides included Not true scientific magnification Positives Very engaging for children Portable Encourages outdoor exploring Simple controls Good for basic science curiosity Who this is for Good for: • children 5–12 • homeschooling • nature walks • beginner science interest Not ideal for: • serious biology study • teenagers expecting a real microscope • photography Conclusion This is best thought of as a science exploration toy rather than a real laboratory microscope. Used that way, it’s excellent — my child has spent far longer examining garden plants than expected. It won’t replace a proper microscope, but it absolutely sparks curiosity, which is probably the point.

Microscope hard work
This Microscope works - Though some of the things on the slides that come with it can be a bit disjointed. E.g Fly mouthparts looked bit broken? But you can see them - Biggest problem is keeping the slides still - Can't see slides while holding in your hand, I had to put on table & tried to keep still - I couldn't see a way to secure the slides so they didn't move while you looked at them. If you can do that, then the Microscope works well - Didn't try the phone attachment yet? Not for small kids -

Good for kids
Not a high level of magnification, but fun for curious kids.

Not what I expected
I brought this for my 6 year old for Christmas. There are only pre-cultured slides to view and after that it’s useless. I thought we could use real life objects which my son likes to explore, but no. I don’t think he is ever going to touch it again. Please don’t buy this if you are looking for actual microscope to view real objects. Waste of my money.

Excellent product, well packed, nice case for keeping it. It is a really good gift for a kid (7-12 years old, I would say). Adults enjoy as well. It is an interesting gift for entertainment and learning.
