Geeky HDD case with great transfer speeds and see through material
I had a couple of 2.5" HDD lying around and was looking for a case to turn them into backup drives. There were many options around, but then I saw this one which was transparent and I could see through. So being a bit obsessed with technology, I preferred this one, since all of the electronics would be visible and look cool. 🎁 INSIDE BOX ••••••••••••••••••• Orico HDD case with USB 3.0 support x1 Foam strip to keep pressure on HDD x1 User manual x1 Warranty card x1 USB 3.0 micro B port to type A cable x1 Supports- 2.5" SATA hard drive / SSD Cable length- 22" ➕ PROS •••••••••••• 1. Sleek, transparent, and see through case- you can see your HDD, its electronics, along with case's black electronic board and its vibrant LEDs 2. USB 3.0 and supporting cable to enable high speed transfers (~100 MB/s read/write speeds for a 5000rpm hard drive) 3. Simple slip-on case with no requirement for screwdriver 4. Blue and Magenta LEDs as connectivity and transfer indicators 5. Supports 2.5" SSD too, but since thickness of SSD is less compared to traditional HDD, you need to provide some cushioning to keep it stable there ➖ CONS •••••••••••• None as such Some may find missing damper/cushion to provide some level of drop protection a problem, but I feel like these devices are not to be dropped and any level of protection can't help much in case of a misfortune. Even majority of portable HDDs dont provide such protection. Some may come with a drop sensor to prevent damage to disks. ☑ SPEED TEST ••••••••••••••••••• -> I tested it using USB 3.0 port, and test results were good on crystaldiskmark Read 101.3 MB/s (for 2GB test file) Write 102.6 MB/s (for 2GB test file) -> On direct transfer of 13 gb file (between Laptops SSD and 5400rpm HDD in case) USB3.0 port Read ~88 MB/s Write ~88 MB/s USB2.0 port Read ~40 MB/s Write ~30 MB/s ✍ FINAL VERDICT •••••••••••••••••••••••• If you are a tinkerer and love technology stuff, you would love a see through case. All that coupled with good quality and great speeds is a perfect combo.

I Wish..It was as as good in durability - as it looks, Care recommended in handling for sure.
A PREVIEW TO PURCHASE : ************************************* Ever since i started the journey of components up gradations of my laptop, I accumulated quite a few collection of Mechanical Hard disks and solid state drives and as a consequence many disk enclosures of USB 2.0 & USB 3.0 interfaces as well. With my recent purchase of a gaming laptop, i felt a further need of an additional Hard Disk enclosure of USB 3.0 interface and since i already have quite a few brands, i decided to try this transparent one this time. ABOUT THE PRODUCT: ********************************** Ever since i set my eyes on this Hard Disk enclosure, its transparent techno looks took me for a fascination until i owned one. Here are my observations of the product. 1.) The packet comprises of a Hard disk case , a USB 3.0 data cable and a brief instruction booklet. 2.) Is a Hard Disk enclosure suited for 2.5" inch form factor SATA drives that is , it can fit in, all the laptop drives but not the 3.5" inch desktop drives. 3.) Now most of the Hard disk drives come with a 9.5 mm thickness & Solid state drives with a 7 mm thickness but this can fit both 9.5 mm (a bit more snugly) and 7 mm though It is not like 7 mm is loosely held. 4.) It follows the USB 3.0 interface & standard and with both of my 7200 rpm HDD & Samsung solid state drive, i comfortably achieved speeds in excess of 100 to 150 MB/s while read/write. 5.) Coming to the original fascination, the transparent body of the enclosure is carved out of an ABS molded plastic that is supposed to be extra rigid to impacts & fireproof, yet as evident,it would surely develop scratches in long run & doesn't feel sturdy at all ,definitely not as i would have liked my precious data to be secured. It doesn't even have a rubber lining or some sort of other impact absorbing material that would act as a cushion to with hold the free-fall impact. So to say , in spite of all its initial fascinating looks ,its not a sturdy enclosure by any means & needs extra care in handling. 6.) The case is very easy to open & put in a disk, as it has a slide-out & slide -in type of locking,so no need of screwdrivers. 7.) There is a multi-colored LED installed in the disk which is blue when powered up & pink-blue when any data transfer takes place. 8.) The enclosure came with an almost 10"inches good quality data cable with USB 3 connector interface. 9.) The printed price over the pack was 999 bucks but in actual i purchased it for 595 bucks which is still, a bit costly looking into the durability of the product. FINAL VERDICT: ************************** No doubt, the product seems to be a quality one, in terms of components & data transfer speeds but when it comes to durability ,its looks quite fragile . You can never afford to let it slip with a Hard disk inside, as it would surely break & may even cause you to lose your precious data by hard disk's platter or head damage .so overall in spite of its good looks,in a broader perspective from data security point of view , i do not recommend it with full heart , if you can get a bit casual in handling at times.Good if you are a careful user though.

Excellent Product for Your Spare 2.5" HDD
The Orico transparent case of 2.5" SATA HDD or SSD is a very good value when compared to 2x expensive Transcend case and 0.75x expensive Terabyte case. The Orico case actually exceeds both ends of the competition in looks, performance and pricing. I fitted the drive with a new & unused Seagate 1 TB HDD that I had purchased about 2 years back and was lying with me unused. Performance: 1) When compared to the Internal Seagate 2TB HDD on my Lenovo i7-7500U laptop, the Orico case and Seagate 1TB HDD actually delivered better performance. The internal drive topped out at 92 MB read / 72 MB write speeds while the Orico case turned in 115 MB read / 94 MB write speeds. 2) When compared with a 2 TB (3.5") External USB 2.0 drive connected to the USB 3.0 port on my laptop, while the USB 2.0 drive only showed expected speeds of of 30 / 24 MB per second speeds, the performance from the Orico case was a leader by a huge margin. Physical: The drive is made entirely of Acrylic kind of material. It looks really good but will not be rugged like a Lacie or a Transcend drive. This needs to be handled with care. Inserting the 1 TB Seagate HDD was simple. Simply slide back the top case and lift it up. Place the Seagate drive in the shell, press it down and then slide the top cover back in. Don't forget to connect the circuit board to the HDD when slide in the HDD. The drive fits snugly into the case and does not move at all once the top cover is put in. In case your drive is a little loose in the chassis, you can use some thick paper / plastic etc. to seal the gap. In case your drive is too thick / big to fit into this case, do not apply pressure - the case will break. The case does not use shock absorption / drive cage suspension etc. to save the HDD from vibrations. You should not move the HDD at all once you have connected it to your computer and started to work with it. To move, ensure that you eject it safely, disconnect the cable and then move the drive. The circuit board has a Blue-Red LED, which glows bright blue to indicate Power and blinks Red to indicate activity. Its rather cheap in appearance because of it's garish colour. A frosted Cool-white and Warm-white LED would have been much more elegant. Mind you, the LED has absolutely nothing to do with drive performance. In my case, the drive is resting behind my laptop and I can only make out a dull glow on the wall to realize that the drive is connected to the laptop. It does not make sense to buy this case and a HDD separately since at actually lower cost, you can buy an integrated external drive from a reputed manufacturer. But in the event you have 2.5" HDDs lying around, this case is certainly terrific at bringing these drives into use. Let me know if the review was "Helpful".

Nice.. worth buying
That was a fast delivery, one day before the commited date, thanks Amazon ! The package reached here safe. But there was no shock proof packing. When it comes to setting the hard disk into the case. It is very easy. Just slide , plug the pins ,and slide it back. Sliding is tricky. If you apply strong pressure to open the empty case , it might get crack. Be care full sliding it. Then my hard disc was perfect fit to the puluging pins.. There is small gap in other three sides of it. One mm or even less. But nothing to worry the hard disc is not moving or shaking in the case. It got attached pretty strong. So I don't mind the gap. Sliding back is little less smooth. May be it is the air. But it fit back perfect. Now there is a cable, with blue color in usb tip. I think blue indicate usb.3. IT looks decent and quality item. Using it with system-loved it. Like any external hard disc , plug and play. No software installation required. If your hard dick has partition like D,E,F drives.. each open as different drives. Not as a whole folder . My WD external HD open as a single drive since it has no partition. Data transfer is 70mbps. My OS is win 7. I dont know it is good or bad. But just letting you know. I did not check with other systems. So I cant say for sure. Now, This has a blue and red LED. Blue seems indicatig connection status and red seems indicating data transfer.. since this case is transparent like glass, the light is very much visible. May be more than it should be. The quality seems good now but I think it will be scratched in future . We put it on some surface always. So scratch is inevitable. Also I am not sure about spirit or diesel applying on it for cleaning.that could damage the finish. Anyway other than future crack and scratch chances due to our careless use , it is good to buy. My hard disc has a breathing hole. But the case don't have one. So if the case is air-tight it might be a problem. That's all for now. I'll update if there is any thing more

This product is of great value. Had damaged my HDD shell + the port wasn't working well [ got disconnected in the middle of the transfers] Won't get into the technical aspect of Read-Write speed, but did experience a boost and ease in transfer. - Sturdy enough [would still recommend using a pouch] - The transparent case makes the HDD look great overall. - Installation is very easy. - While buying, noticed reviews say could have included rubber supports etc, but didn't see the need for it. - When connected > shows blue LED flashing | While Read-Write operations > shows blue + purple LED flashing - The cable received along with it is of good quality & the port of the cases is fantastic. Writing the above review after a month of usage which includes using it continuously connected while editing videos where source and destination are both in the HDD. Great performance! Value for money!

Good for price. Not very safe. Easy insert but hard removal.
No setup. Plug and play. Insert the disk into case and connect to computer. Pros: Ease of install: Very easy. Case quality: Good. USB Cable quality: Good. R/W speeds: Avg. 60 MBps(Mega Bytes, not Mega bits). Cons: No shock absorbing material. Disk can get damaged easily in case it falls etc. Cannot remove the disk easily. The slot for the disk is perfect. Once you insert the disk, it locks in place. It may be a good thing for some people, but for me it is not a very good thing. There is no room to slide the disk and remove it. You might damage the bottom of the disk as well as the SATA connector of the disk while trying to remove it. I think it would have been better if there was some room for easy removal.

Orico 2.5 inch HDD Case
Received the product on 10 Feb. The packaging was proper. It was a cute little box. Inside the box there was one case wrapped in plastic, one cable wrapped in plastic, user manual, Registration Information. The packaging was really good. Build Quality: The case is transparent plastic case which in my opinion is okay quality. Don't drop it or get burdened under something. The Slide mechanism of the case will start to fail after certain amount of its use. The cable looks like it is of good quality. It is not loose on the connecting point. Installation: I have a Hitachi Travelstar HDD which I wanted to convert as an external HDD. The installation is very very easy. I had to remove the fitting panel on my HDD which is required while using with laptop 'cause otherwise it won't fit. Its easy just slide open the case & attach your HDD inside & close the case properly. Easy Peasy... Using: Super Easy. Just Plug n Play. You may have to wait for some time on the first run as it might install the drivers. Performance: Haven't been using much but with the usage that i had i can say that the read speed was nice topping 100 MBPS for my HDD and average would be 85 MBPS. This means it is USB 3.0 & I will check the write speed in some time and will update the review. Final Verdict: The product is really good for the price point that i brought it for ₹540 if you don't have to do a lot of swapping of HDD in the case 'cause the slider mechanism will eventually fail. But otherwise this is a great product. USB 3.1 (Gen 2) could have been there instead of USB 3.1 (Gen 1) [USB 3.0 is USB 3.1 (Gen 1) capped at 5 Gbps while Gen 2 is capped at 10 Gbps theortically] But my HDD couldn't have used the Gen2 properly because of its own speed which is very less so that's why it doesn't bother me much. Also, the company is seriously focused on feedback which is very good and that's why i am writing this review 😂 😂 😂 That's my review. Thanks for reading😁

Excellent product. Works like magic. Even works with older generation HDDs (the fat ones!). I had an HDD from 2009, which I removed from my old laptop and was storing since 2010. Never expected it to work. When I plugged it in to this Orico beauty, it rose up from its long deep slumber and started working like a charm. Data transfer is also very fast. Was a pleasure browsing through old files specially photos, which I thought were lost for ever. I also connected my SSD (Samsung Evo860) to it. SuperDuper fast file transfer speeds!!! This product is amazing. Built quality is good, but not great. Durable, if you take care of it well. Its fully plastic, so if you drop it, it may break in a single drop. Very easy to open and install HDD/SSD; the top cover is screwless and sliding type. Gorgeous looking too. Fully transparent. My recommendation; go for it, blindfolded!
