Good quality
Nice dark paper. I tend to press hard when I draw so I used thicker paper. Erases well using a white plastic eraser. White pencil leaves color when erased on it.

Heavy Texture and Scale leaves a depth to your pastel work, is very nice to work with!
this paper for Pastel work is just lovely, leaves and oil like painting look to it, I have enjoyed and bought a lot of the paper in as many sizes that i can get, you can work other colors and blend nicely, but I do try to not over work it, but if you do it sill looks fresh, I've left Three pictures for you to view. Just fantastic paper, it comes in shades of Gray scale, and as you can see I've used black scale for "the Bridge" and black scale also for the "Iris", then light gray for the Portrait, this paper comes in 18 by 24, and 9 by 12, I wished they'd make it in 11 by 14, but you can cut the larger one down, I did do the Bridge and the Iris by cutting the 18 by 24 in half. A must for Pastel work!

My go-to pad for graphite drawings
This paper is perfect for graphite drawings. It has the perfect amount of tooth for nice blending. This is the only pad I've been able to find in this size, which is one of my favorites for portraits.

Given as a gift, he said is was perfect
This was purchased as a gift for a senior high school student. He had a list of supplies he needed for an advanced art class. His mom has sent me a few texts to report that all the supplies were perfect and he is loving his art class.

Several gray colors and black one.
I think this is an interesting paper set because it has several gray colors. I drew an illustration on the white paper, the texture was really nice. For gray papers, I think it is better to draw some illustration by white materials. I used color pencils and I learned I need to paint white ( or put some white paper on the area) below the illustration. ( Some people recommends when they use neon colors, to put a white base color.) I used neon pens on black paper, but it is not so best for the markers.

Works well for sketching.
I'm using these for an online class I'm taking. they have a nice texture to it. However if you don't want that little bumpy texture to it these will not be to your liking or not particularly smooth. But they're perfect for what I need them for. I'm using these for one of the drawing online classes from Stan Winston.

Great Paper, Binding NOT so great.
Always a fan of the Strathmore papers- this is a great variation of colors and the compression of the paper is perfect- I only got this pad as an add on item, typically I do not buy ANY type of sketch book with a glued binding- I used the pad for 5 min to do a quick sketch - I went to grab it the following day and it had already come unglued and the papers were loose. Not a big deal as I can use a portfolio to put the loose paper in. If you're really looking for a sketch pad/book I ALWAYS recommend using a spiral or thread bound book. Even with perforated pages of you choose to take your sketch out of your book. So- the ONLY reason I'm giving this 3 stars is due to it the papers being glue bound-otherwise the paper is great quality and awesome to use with any type of charcoal from pencils to sticks. Hope this helps! Xx

This Strathmore 400 series works well for pastels, charcoal and graphite
I really like the assorted tinted sheets. The 18"x24" sheets are nice to have. I can either do one large picture or cut the sheets and have two 9"x12" sheets of paper to work with. This paper has enough tooth for pastels and charcoals.
