These Sock
The description of this sock indicates it is a designed to hold up as a heavy duty work sock and that's the criteria under which I am judging this and assigning it a one star rating. That doesn't mean I don't think these socks are good at something and I'll elaborate on this after I evaluate them on their heavy duty work sock claim. For starters, there is no way that this sock can comfortably accommodate a man's foot size greater than US size 10. I believe it does Fruit of the Loom a disservice to advertise these with such a broad size range. These are probably a perfect size nine but work okay for up to a size 10. For anything over size 10 these cannot be a comfortable sock - there's just not enough material there. As a work sock I do not find the cushioning superior to any other brand of non-work cotton crew sock I've tried. Instead of a mid-calf rise, which I find is typical of a crew-style sock, these only rise a little more than midway between mid-calf and ankle. In fact, I would say these have the lowest rise of any crew style stock I have ever purchased. They're higher than a quarter sock, like these Timberland Pro Men's 3 Pack Reinforced Heel Toe Work Quarter Sock by about two inches. This might not be bad for some guys as work socks, in my experience, are often not quite as high as basic cotton crew socks. Still, this is a bit low for my liking.Usually when a sock is removed from its original packaging one notices a traditional and familiar sock shape to the garment, but that is less the case with these. Yes, there is a slight change to the shape of the sock where the Achilles heel area of the garment meets the leg portion, but not nearly as pronounced as one typically sees in a sock. In my view there is an overall feel and sense of low quality in terms of both construction and materials.I am sorry to report my belief that this is inferior work sock. I really wanted to like these because I go through a lot of socks and this price here was great. I paid $10.79 for the six pack of white, large, 6-12. My purchase was in March of 2015.For the past year I have been buying Timberland Pro work socks here on Amazon and took a chance on these Fruit of the Loom socks because of the great price. Looks like I'll be ordering the Timberland Pros again. The Timberland Pro's cost more, but the quality is much better and they're so much more comfortable over the course of a long day. That's worth the extra cost to me. Here's what I've been buying - Timberland Men's Pro Crew Cool Touch Blend 3 Pack Socks .Other work socks I own that are superior in quality and that I would recommend to others as work socks include Wigwam Men's At Work DuraSole Work 2-Pack Crew Length Work Sock and Carhartt Men's Cotton 3 Pack Crew Work Socks .Now for anyone who hung in for this I can tell you that the news here is not all bad. If you're looking to use this sock to wear around the house as a layer of warmth between your feet and the floor it is probably sufficient for that purpose. It has too high of a cotton percentage to qualify for review as an athletic sock so I wouldn't recommend it for that purpose. But where I think this sock excels is as a diabetic sock. There's not a lot of elastic compression on the rise of this sock. You would probably be fighting with it all day in terms of pulling it back up if you were to use this as a work sock. But that low compression is great for many men suffering from diabetes and that's exactly how I put these to use.I gave these to a friend who suffers from diabetes and who has a shoe size of 10. He is really pleased with this sock. For his typical routine this sock doesn't get much more use than to protect his feet from getting too cold around the house and for otherwise serving as a layer of padding between his foot and shoe. They're great for this light use. He hasn't had any issues with the compression being too high as is often the case with cotton crew socks for those with diabetes. I believe if Fruit of the Loom advertised the size correctly and marketed these to the diabetic community they would find a new and appreciative market.

Great Socks!!
I'm so tired of athletic crew socks that are supposed to be for adults, but when you buy them and then try to put them on it's like they were made for kids. These Fruit Of The Loom crew socks are really well-designed and well made. I wear a size 12 shoe and the size 6-12 socks fit securely around my feet. I've washed them several times over the first 4 months and they still have their original shape and tightness. I love the fact that these are 78% cotton. I've tried 100% poly athletic crew socks and they just suck. These FOTL are also the right length, stopping just before my large calf muscles that used to be destroyed by $15 per pair Nike athletic socks. If you wear a larger than size 12 shoe, you might try the next size up in these socks. Otherwise, I think you'll be pleased with how they support your arch and don't fall down around your ankles. FOTL did a really nice job with these socks!!

Semi-Serious Sock Study : 21.5 Months
Spoiler: Fruit of the Loom were so-so; Gold Toe were great.I wear white cotton crew socks basically every day, two pairs on workout days. I wear them with high-impact athletic shoes, work/walking shoes, and occasionally heavy work boots. I want them to last (no holes, no saggy tops), I want them to be comfortable, and I want a fair value for my money. So when I retired my old inventory nearly two years ago, I picked up five different brands of white crew socks.Durability: As I wore the socks, I tried to be very diligent about 'rotating stock' -- pulling socks to wear from the right-side of the drawer, putting in freshly-laundered ones on the left. In theory, they all received about the same amount of wear-and-tear.Wigwam (2/5): Unraveled at the top quickly -- after the first washing, three socks; after the third or fourth, almost every sock had loose tops. These thick socks took around a year before I started seeing holes in the toes or heel.Under Armour (4/5): Some unraveling around the 8 or 9 month mark, no holes until year two.Fruit of the Loom (3/5): Little unraveling, but heels thinned before the end of the first year, leading to holes.Hanes Cushion Crew (3/5): Modest unraveling, but moderate holes at toes and heels around the 9-12 month mark.Gold Toe Cotton Crew Athletic (5/5): Outstanding -- so far, no unraveling; two toe holes, one heel hole.Comfort: There's two factors for me -- first, softness; second, thickness/padding. Also, I'm not looking for a compression sock (like for when I fly, or if I develop CHF) -- nothing *too* tight (and none of them were).Wigwam (3/5): Very thick (for a crew sock), well-padded; stiff -- even after months of washing, they almost felt starched.Under Armour (5/5): Good thickness; started soft, became even softer after a few washes.Fruit of the Loom (3/5): Felt slightly thin; good softness.Hanes Cushion Crew (4/5): Good thickness; slightly stiff, but not as bad as Wigwam).Gold Toe Cotton Crew Athletic (5/5): Thick, but not too thick; softest out-of-the-plastic, and better as time went by.Value: All bought on the same date, non-sale prices (just standard Amazon prices)Wigwam Super 60 Crew ($2.97/pr)Under Armour Charged Cotton Crew ($2.50/pr)Fruit of the Loom Heavy Duty Crew ($1.81/pr)Hanes Cushion Crew ($1.78/pr)Gold Toe Cotton Crew Athletic ($1.72/pr)

They do not last long
I like many things about these socks: how they fit, how they feel, level of comfort. What I don't like is how quickly they get holes. They do not last long. I bought 12 pairs 6 months ago, I am down to less than half - the rest got holes. That means, if I were to wear same pair of socks every day - that pair won't last a month. I would have expected more from "Heavy Duty" socks.I bought another 6 pairs last week, for refill - but if this pack has same short life, I'll be looking for a product from a different brand.

Good product
My biggest issue when buying socks is how they fit lengthwise on the leg. I don’t like ankle socks or knee socks. The problem is that the last few times I’ve purchased crew socks, they were still too short, only coming up a few inches above the ankle. These particular socks are the perfect length(for me) and although I’m not crazy about the two tone grey and white combo this is not a deal breaker. As far as quality, they are comfortable and not too tight which can also be an issue sometimes. They seem well made but you can only expect so much from a pair of socks. I think this is a good product and great price. I will purchase them again soon

My #1 Casual Sock for Years
I've been buying these Fruit of the Loom Work Gear socks for several years. Walmart recently stopped carrying the original design in favour of an "improved" version with an elastic in the arch and longer up the leg (the sock went three-quarter's of the way up to the knee)! I was so happy when I found the original, tried-and-true socks on Amazon...this is the original design listed here on Amazon. Packaging says size 6-12...I take a shoe size 12 and these fit very well. They are NOT tight on the ankle, very comfortable all around. I usually show wear on the heel and forefoot, and these socks hold up very well over time. Most important, they do NOT go three-quarters of the way up the knee and do NOT have the annoying elastic in the arch. See attached photos for the socks I got from Amazon...I will definitely buy again...fast free shipping came in 2 days.
