Awesome Hedge Trimmer
This hedge trimmer means business. I purchased it to go with the EGO Powerhead and it works great. Yes, it is a little heavy, but the shoulder strap helps a lot and you just have to take a break now and then. For a typical residential yard it is more than able to tackle any hedge and still have power to spare. I also use it for maintaining shrubs on some of our subdivision’s common ground and it has no problems at all. Easy to attach to the Powerhead and the angle adjustment makes it easy to tackle the taller shrubs.

Excellent Quality, Very Adjustable, Great Trimmer
I bought this attachment for my EGO Power+ power head to...well...trim some stuff. I needed to trim a few small (less than 1 inch diameter) broken limbs off a couple trees and to prune some holly shrubs/trees that had gotten rather heroic in reaching for the sky. As with all other EGO tools I've gotten, this trimmer was very well packaged. I was surprised at the quality of the trimmer. The only trimmer blades I'd seen before were on the basic trimmers you would get at a chain hardware store. The blades on this trimmer were far more substantial...and sharrper. See attached picture. Next pleasant finding was how adjustable the blade is. It can be attached to the power head (or the extender attachment) so that you can trim either horizontally or vertically--nice for trimming the top or sides of hedges. You can also change the angle of the blade with 12 different settings (second picture). That's very helpful when trying to reach around things or when you need to trim at an angle. I attached the blade to the EGO extension pole I had gotten to let me reach high spots. It took a couple of tries before I found the right angle, because it can be attached for either vertical or horizontal cutting. Once I got it on, I trimmed the high branches I needed to remove. One of them was over half an inch in diameter, but the blade had no problems with it (power head motor was set to low speed). Once done with that, I removed the extension, changed the angle, and pruned the holly trees. Again, worked great with no issues. The only change I would have like to have seen is for the shaft to be made of carbon fiber to make it lighter and strong. And to make it match how the power head looks :-) Definitely not worth deducting a star, though. I'm quite happy with this and would definitely purchase it again knowing what I know and having used it.

Large Shrubs Beware
Make no mistake, this thing will be heavy. I found that a 4 Ah battery provided a pretty good balance point and lasted longer than I could. Have some large holly bushes that had grown over 12ft tall and much wider. The angles possible allowed me to bring it down to a more reasonable height in a short time on the first try without using ladders and getting cut up by the foliage. The length of the shaft makes it very quick to sweep across and shape the face of the plants as well, much quicker and way less bending over than my B&D 20VMax cordless model which we'll only use for smaller stuff from now on. I'd say it worked through 3/4 inch stuff without too much effort, but anything larger and it needed to "chew" for a while. If you have a good angle and can use the weight on top of the branch you need to cut, it will still eat through bigger stuff given enough time. The biggest I cut through was probably closer to 1 1/2" but that took a while. The chainsaw is a better tool for that when you get the rest of the foliage out of the way. Overall very happy with the tool. It was much less expensive as a one time cost than having professional landscapers do just one trimming of my overgrown shrubbery.

Ego are good tools
Worked fine used it to clean a property line along with their pole saw and powerhead tool. Max filled a pickup truck bed with limbs and leaves with a 10 amp hour batter still has a charge when I was done. Thinking about the chainsaw. I have the edger too probably the best edger I've used also edge and weeded on the same battery same day no need to charge. The mower cuts for about an hour little more or less depending on the grass height. Didn't cut that grass that day. Would rate higher but the price and is haven't had them long enough to know about durability. Lawn mower, weed eater and blower over a year. Blower is my first wish I had one a long time ago. Didn't know how much time that thing saves same with the pole saw.

Ego never disappoints!
This is one powerful pole edge trimmer! So far it has ran through every hedge in my yard like a hot knife through butter. It definitely can handle 1" diameter branches. Once again Ego has produced a battery powered piece of equipment that is just as powerful as it's gas counterparts. The head is adjustable to just about any angle you will need and like everything Ego, the adjustment is as simple, no screws or bolts, you just squeeze the lever and adjust it. I used a 2.5Ah battery and it was enough to do an hour of trimming and still had plenty of juice to use the leaf blower to clean up after. The main complain I am seeing is about the weight and that it is unwieldy. To that I say, no kidding, it's a pole hedge trimmer. It's weight is pretty comparable to most gas ones. I tried popping in the 7.5Ah battery and yea then it gets a bit bottom heavy, but not crazy. With the 2.5Ah battery it feels just right. If you want a hedge trimmer that is lightweight and more precise then you want a handheld trimmer which Ego also sells. If you need to trim very tall and/or deep shrubs, then this is what you want. And yea they are a bit heavier and take some practice to use.

Certainly NOT lightweight
This tool seems very well made. But is a bit of a handful to use (weight wise). It does the job on the various hedges that I have here. A word to the wise about tool registration on the EGO website (hopefully this tip helps others). The way that Amazon "bundles" the tools doesn't seem to reflect registering the tools in the way that they were purchased. I eventually found that registering each tool "part" individually on the EGO website works. A couple of emails to EGO resulted in my cases being closed with just a "noreply" email from them saying call us. Tried that this morning and left VM for them to call me back as there was nobody answering the calls. That was just 75 minutes ago. I assume that I will get a return call sometime but who knows?

Great for clearing brush and mowing small fields
I bought this to keep about an acre of field surrounding our yard clear. We don't want that much lawn but we also don't want the area around our lawn to grow back into forest. After living here a few years lots of small trees had sprouted. Using this trimmer I was able to quickly mow down all the small trees and bushes. It worked really well for this and I was amazed how quickly it went. The trimmer will chew through stuff an inch thick if you ask it to. Battery life was also good. I only had to swap the 4ah battery for a fresh 5ah battery to do the whole thing. I did buy the strap and for what I was doing I would recommend it. The whole unit weighs too much to just hold it up by my arms for that long. But suspended over my shoulder with the strap wasn't a problem. So I'm adding this to the list of EGO tools I love. I already have the mower, string trimmer and chainsaw and I like all of them.
