Much Better than expected
Weighted it and it's 13 lbs (maybe 14 with the cord?)Measured 15 x 6.5 x 13.5 after putting on the thread stand.(Without the thread stand 12 inches tall)One thing I don't like about this machine it is the little plastic window piece that coversthe bobbin is really weak and difficult to snap into place. I'm sure I will break it.Not sure where to get a replacement??The only other thing I didn't like was the placement of the stitch dial. It's just under the balance wheel, and almost as big. So, I keep turning it when I want to raise my needle. A little frustrating, but supposeI can get used to that.I did like the drop in bobbin. It says in the directions that you have to pull up thebobbin thread, but I did not do that and it sewed just fine.A manual is included, and it's easy to read with diagrams.Read the manual or you will never figure out how to create the fancy stitches. If you have used a sewing machine before, it's pretty straight forward.I purchased this to use as a travel machine for sewing lessons. I have a $600 Juki that I ADORE,and this machine does not hold a candle to that, but for under $100, I think it's perfectly fine.I've only had this machine a day, so take this review as that.

Best Sewing Machine EVER!
I love this machine. I’ve sewn twice. Once in Home-Ec and when I was pregnant (she’s 26 now). I got this out of the box, made a bobbin, and was sewing within 20 minutes (I cut out pattern the previous night). I’ve already made 2 dresses. The instructions are fab, lots of pics, and easy to understand. I read tons of reviews and this machine scored higher than many costing 5 times more. This is a woman owned company and they have 5 Star customer service, and a 25 year warranty. I had my Mom use it - she has a $3000 Genobi and she loved it too. Wow, Just WOW! What a great bargain, great machine and great company. I’m super pleased! Also, it’s a HEAVY machine, about 15 pounds. I think that’s a plus as I can’t handle the machine moving around while I’m rustling fabric. Not too heavy to move, but secure when you’re sewing. 5 Star...or more! This thing is amazing!

Very smooth stitching
This machine was purchase to replace a Singer simple model that was having problems. I have only had my machine a couple of days so far, but I love it. It's loaded with features that I love, like a top loading bobbin and a one step button hole, it has more than I expected for the price of the machine. It is very easy to use if you are already familiar with sewing machines, and if you're a beginner the instruction manual is well written and detailed, making this machine great for beginners as well. The machine is not light, but not heavy, I would say average weight, but it does feel very sturdy and well made, and the stitching is smooth! I am very happy with my purchase so far, and you can't beat the price on this machine.

I bought it in August 2018. It quit working July 2019.
Im a doll maker. I used this machine as a "2nd " machine, a workhorse. My superpower and knowledge lays with hand sewing not machine sewing. I tried to be aware/careful of the machine's needs. Sewing industrial cheese cloth/drapery lining material did it in. I do not know what is wrong, the booklet is no use. I tried to get it fixed, every one wanted 100 or more to look at it. I paid 54. 00 new with tax. I don't want to buy another "second" machine but it costs more to get it fixed than to buy a new one. Thats my story.

Best for beginners!
I bought this machine after quite a bit of research. I just wanted to do small projects and this machine seemed to have the most features compared to other machines with the same cost. It is light weight, easy to carry and came with instructions that a beginner like me could easily follow. The only reason to give it 4 stars is because I have not yet used all the features. Just used it to sew some cushion covers and it has worked perfectly so far.

Nice sewing machine
This is a truly lightweight sewing machine. I read all reviews before buying and thought due to price go for it. The automatic threader never worked, but I have always used a hand threader to get thread through machine needle and honestly it's so easy no need to use automatic threader. Adjusting tension for fabric weight is difficult. No clear directions in manual for that. Overall the Spiegel is fine for the type of sewing I do. Cannot speak to all the buttonhole and other things it says one can do.

Very pleased
This is my second sewing machine; I wanted to replace my "starter" machine because I wanted a one-step buttonholder and my machine did not have one. So I only have one machine to compare it to, but I am so impressed with this machine, especially for the price. It seems sturdy and sews very nicely, pulling the fabric through straight and isn't too loud. The instructions could use more detail in some places but are pretty good. I like that the manual is small and love the drop-in bobbin. Super happy with this purchase and highly recommend.
