My Favorite Game
I don't mean to be biased, but Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations is the best game I've ever played. As a warning for those who are unfamiliar with the series, you should know that this game will make absolutely no sense unless you've played the other two games (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All) first. For those of you wondering whether to continue with the series, I cannot encourage you enough to do so. They have finally perfected the gameplay for the least amount of frustration during investigations, improving the magatama function and removing profiles as presentable evidence. There's still a little bit of the plug and chug - having to go around presenting every piece of evidence to every person when you get stuck - but it has been greatly reduced. More importantly, the writing is wittier than ever, the new prosecutor Godot is a perfect mix of mystery and hilarity, and the cases are engaging and filled with more turnabouts than ever. Many old characters make an appearance, and many new ones establish themselves in the Ace Attorney cannon - Phoenix's college sweetheart for one. The only issue is the difficulty of finding a copy of this game. I, for one, suggest checking Amazon Marketplace regularly and waiting for someone to post a cheap copy in decent condition. This is how I got my copy, and I have been most satisfied by it. For those who are still unsure whether to buy, I don't have much else to say but... OBJECTION!

If you're into the concept, all Ace Attorney games are worth buying
The "Ace Attorney" game series isn't for everyone, but they're a fun blend of "you be the jury" style legal stories mixed with inventory puzzles reminiscent of old point-and-click adventure games. Each game gets 4-5 episodes, but episodes vary drastically in length, so quantity of episodes doesn't dictate overall length. The games don't take themselves too seriously, there are some supernatural elements, and the English localization inserts burgers and colloquialisms. The source material's Japanese roots show through the localization frequently, and it's not a problem. The most Japanese things I like are Nintendo, Ace Attorney, and Studio Ghibli. I'm far from an Otaku, but Ace Attorney still does everything right in my books. I've played every English localization, and one fan translation. If Capcom ever makes Ace Attorney Investigations 2 available in the west, I can confirm that all Ace Attorney games are worth buying.

Feeeeeenie~!
As a law student, it might be a bit embarrassing to admit that I love the Phoenix Wright series, but I don't really care. This series is truly fun and phenomenal. This game, in particular, is probably the best of the games currently out, in that its plot, characters, and gameplay is top-notch. We are introduced to fun and interesting new characters, like the mysterious prosecutor Godot and the oddly named Sister Bikini, and experience Phoenix's "origins" story. (And see him in a stupidly pink sweater!) We also learn more about Mia and Maya's familial relations and get to play as Mia during her first ever trial. This game is also awesome in that the case aren't just random, but carefully connected. We also meet one of the game's stand-out characters, a villain so unexpectedly sociopathic it makes you question your observational judgment. Whether or not you are already invested in the Phoenix Wright series, you should try this game out. Unless you absolutely hate reading (then why are you reading this review...?), give the ol' text game a try. The only problem is that the outlandish characters and plot are really addictive, so expect to invest a good, solid 30 hours.
